Wonderful video. Carpet looks so clean and plush. A word of encouragement: even though you are separating from the boys’ father, you seem absolutely committed to giving your sons a happy family unit. There is room for love, kindness, and JOY in families where the parents divorce. Best of luck to you on this journey ❤

FYI Mia-I grew up in a house where my parents didn’t get a divorce until I was much older. All of my sibs and me knew it should have happened a lot sooner so we could have experienced what a ‘healthy’ relationship should look like. It was rough. Stay strong-it’s time to be happy.

@@MaiZimmy I also grew up in a house with 2 parents who stayed married who shouldn't have. It did so much damage to me and my younger brother. We've both been in extremely toxic and dangerous relationships because you just don't realize how far out of boundaries you are when your baseline is trash. You accept things without a second thought that you shouldn't, and you don't know how to ask for better from the other person because your parents never successfully demonstrated how. And then you don't leave, for YEARS after you should have, because your parents didn't, so love means you stick with your partner no matter what.... We're both in our 30s, have Finally left the bad relationships and are trying to build *actually * healthy relationships now. But we're still affected by it. I never want to be legally married. I know it's because I saw theirs, and never want to risk trying legally escape that in my own life. Current partner and father of our child understands. Thank God. Brother wants to be married some day but never wants kids because he doesn't believe he won't hurt them or damage them like we were. Divorce is a gift. You're gifting your children and you a chance to change your future, and theirs. And it's one of the best gifts you can give them. And if their dad and you can have an amicable, coparenting relationship, that's the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Whatever the reason for the divorce is, if the marriage can't work, then divorce is the gift everyone needs. 💜

Post divorce advice: Put everyone in therapy. Even if your kids seem fine and are adjusting. Family counseling or group therapy is the most important thing you can do for yourself and your boys. And stick it out! Don't quit after a few sessions thinking that it's not working, not really needed, or you will just work it out together on your own. You must put in the work now to help them grow into teen and adult life.

I dont have much advice. I struggle myself being away from my son in Vegas when I'm in Alaska because I am not with his father. It is something I understand just not being two parents under one roof. I would stay with my ex so my kids had a family unit, but it doesn't always make their life better when they have unhappy parents. Sometimes they strive in two homes and the plus side is they always have twice as many gifts for holidays lol. "Two is better than one" can be so cliche, but two happy parents make happy children. I enjoy your videos. I watch them in bed kind of like comfort shows. Currently playing New Girl in the background because they took the office off Netflix ages ago and so I'm settling for what's left that I still enjoy. They have an office golden book of "counting office supplies". It's adorable and I saw it at Walmart, it's a kids book! I wish I knew all the right words, but you're already on a good track. Routine helps and you're working on that by posting videos. You're also coparenting which is the best you can do for your kids, it is unfortunately not always that way with separation. You're incredible, strong, independent, and so very inspiring. I strive to some day have the motivation you have to be organized and declutter. It's halloween season and I love Halloween year round so I have found myself hoarding halloween decor. 🤪 My idea of a fun space is a cozy one with things I love so I'm justifying my obsession. I am due to go through my children's toys in the playroom again so thank you for this! I need to get to that this week. I'm adding it to the list! Anyways, love you Mai!! 😍 Stay strong, but let yourself have emotions too. You are human after all! 🖤🎃 Also, if you are decorating for fall/Halloween, can we please get a video for it?! 🧡🦇

I feel for you. 😢 My parents didn’t get divorced for so very long and I’ll say, the earliest years of my life filled with fighting and arguments were the most stressful to this day even at 33. They did eventually at 13 but at that point it just made me super resentful. Point being, you’re kids will never know it, but you absolutely have spared them. I separated when my girls were 5 and 3. It was difficult for a while, especially sending them for visitation because we have 50/50. But I can tell you this…It gets better! I am so happy now and I actually love being a single parent. Thankfully, their father doesn’t live far. He remarried and has 3 more daughters (which was hard for me at first), but now I love that my girls have so many siblings. I also decluttered a lot by sending things to his house. Take care of yourself and remember it gets better.

As someone who has been there you will eventually forgive yourself because you are going to be a better, happier mama. I held on to a toxic relationship for the same ‘family unit’ BS that is driven into us. I was happily single with 2 kids, then I met my best friend who I married & had 3 more kids with! We have a beautiful blended family. He loves his step kids as hard as he loves the little ones. He had to work for his spot, he shows up for them, he loves me in a healthy way that makes life awesome. I don’t need anyone, I have no room for BS, he knows it & he respects that. So when you are ready, this will be a great time in your life loving your kids & finding yourself as this lady you are today ❤

KUDOS to you mama. I see so many "declutter" videos where the moms wont declutter without the children. No wonder they never get stuff out. I always decluttered my childrens toys and never once (we have 7) have they ever cried about anything that was gone. It truly blows my mind when I see them pull stuff that has been buried in a basement and they have to ask their kids. Good grief, they didnt even know they had it. I applaud you for making these decisions for them.

Good morning Mai! I hope you are well. I can’t even imagine how hard this process is for you, but as you mentioned the separation is amicable and that is already a good start. My parents are still together after over 40 years of marriage, and they claimed they stayed together “for the kids”. Today they still have the same issues they’ve always had, but I guess they feel too old to start over on their own. All this to say that you are young, and have so much ahead of you. Your children will be happy seeing both of their parents happy, even if that means you’re not together. ❤

I hope in time you can set aside that guilt of not giving them the “perfect” family.I love watching your cleaning and organizing videos and wish you all the best in this new season of your life ❤

Thank you for sharing this. My exes, I have two exes, and I had a baby from each ex. One relationship from 18-21yrs, second relationship from 22-31yrs. I've been through so much heartache that all the emotions, I believe caused me to develop Achalasia, I've fallen behind so much with trying to be the mum that I wanted to be, and running my household by myself. I've been a single mother for years. Things didn't end amicably with both of my exes. I've been in and out of hospital so plans for my home have been put on hold. Now that I'm feeling better, I'm starting to tackle the mammoth task of going through mine and my daughter's things. It's very overwhelming and I'm still trying to adjust and adapt with the changes to my health. I feel so very sad, having to let go of things, as I'm a very sentimental person. I don't know how we accumulated so much stuff but these kinds of videos are really inspiring and motivational, I feel like I can do it. Thank you again, and I hope things work out for you too with your situation 🌸

So very sorry to hear what your family is going through. Divorce is probably the most painful life event that I've ever had to go through. In many respects, it is worse than a death because you still have to have a relationship with your Ex. The divorce just wasn't about losing the person you vowed to be with forever, it was much-much more. It was a change in lifestyle, friends, family, hopes, dreams and so much more. I felt lost and I felt like a failure. I'm sharing this Mai, in case you are feeling this way or will in the near future. All normal and understandable. Whatever soothes your spirit and comforts your soul, that is what I pray for you!

Omg. Even hearing you say “magic tracks” makes me want to cry. My daughter be will be 2 on February 15 and she has hardly any hair still. The sad part: One of her magic tracks car’s wheels got stuck in her hair. The wheels just kept spinning and pulling the middle of the back of hair around the axels… and we had to CUT IT OUT! Now she has that baby mullet with no middle to the “party in the back”!!! 😂😂😂😢😢😢
