Crazy to be this proud of someone I've never met, firefighter Cass! Havent missed a day of decluttering and loving it! In Oct 2023 i watched one of your videos where you said to pick one thing out of the five areas of life that you want to work on and do one thing towards that goal and i picked health because i wasnt feeling great. I put on my shoes and went for a walk. Simple, easy peasy. Very quickly i lost and kept off 35 pounds. As a mom to a child with special needs i literally had never even thought about my health or weight. The biggest impact you've had on my life has nothing to do with my house! Having said that, i still love decluttering with you throughout the years of watching your videos.

Does anyone else walk around their spaces and immediately look for a quick 5 things they could easily get rid of?!?!? I love the 'permission' to just spend 5 minutes to find the things I like the least. Shifts my perspective and makes the task so much easier. So glad of myself for sticking with this video series - I've downloaded, printed, bookmarked, set reminders for all kinds of programs and this is the first one I've stuck with. Thank you Cass! Your insight, humor, and the stories at the end are just the best!

My dad has been a fireman since he was 19. Tomorrow, he turns 72. He is "retired" now, but he covers shifts for the younger guys/gals. He also teaches, at the college, the classes for fire training. I used to make him take me to fires, even when he'd just worked a 24-hour shift, because I loved to see the action. To this day, I can tell what kind of fire is going based on the cloud "plume" that is made by it. Fire baby, and proud of it.

Thanks Cass, Dawn and Dana for all the videos with methods to declutter and to have a neat home. Not only is it helping me, but it's helping my 9 year old granddaughter who has ADHD and a chronically beyond-messy room. I and my daughter (her mother) are also ADHD and keeping things decluttered and organized is a problem for us. I never knew how to teach what I couldn't do myself. I went to visit my daughter and her family for a month this summer and gently worked with my granddaughter using what I have learned from you all. She and I did 3 one hour cleanups while there - I didn't want to make it too much of a chore that she'd hate. It was not perfect when I left but it was so much better. We also did a 5 minute pick-up of the entry way that had shoes, backpacks and coats strewn everywhere. When 5 mins wasn't enough time she kept working until it was all put away. Now that I'm home she's texting me before and after photos of her cleanups. 5 minutes one day, 30 mins another day. Today's photo looks like a completely different room than it did when I arrived for the visit. There is nothing on the floor that doesn't belong there. I am so thankful that my granddaughter is learning a method that works for her. I think the thought of cleaning her room - meaning her whole room - was so overwhelming that she couldn't make a good start at it. But small bits of time she learned she can handle. At this point neither her mother nor I are suggesting she clean. (She works better when it's her idea.) She'll just go up to her room and spend a few minutes once or twice a week and we won't know until she shows her Mom and sends me the photos. She's decided this is important to HER and that SHE can do it. I am now taking before and after photos in my house to text her to show her my progress. I am beyond grateful to the three of you.

I enjoy your real decluttering videos. I made the mistake some time ago taking the advice of an extreme minimalist and got rid of duplicate, even triplicate cooking impliments. Well, I soon realized I cook, from scratch, all the time. The last thing I wanted to have to do was add time to my cooking time by stopping to wash my tools every time I went from one dish to the other, and back. I went out and replaced what I'd donated. I realized the hard way that decluttering has to fit my lifestyle. So, my tools sit in two crocks on my shelf, next to my stove top, near my stand mixer. They are handy, and used. Knives, in a drawer, along with some other tools that do well put away. Baker, cook here. Valuable lesson learned! But, I did declutter some useless objects, and never missed them. Thank you!

I have a lot more than you have because we do batch cooking so we have several meals ready to eat and make meals for my dad that can be reheated in a microwave. For those of you getting behind, try combining a few area that are close to each other. While watching something cooking in the oven that has a tendency to go from perfect to burnt fast, I decluttered yesterday’s ‘Dish Containers’ with today’s ‘Kitchen Gadgets’. And if you have pretty clean drawers and cabinets, take a minute to wipe out the shelves and small containers you use to separate your spatulas from measuring spoons. I love this series and I hope this is a yearly event.

My husband joined the fire department in my hometown shortly after we got married. He was from another place miles away, so he knew no one in town except me. When he got his first fire call, he got to the station and te main trucks had left to go to the fire. There was a note on the blackboard for the other volunteers that said “fire at “John Smiths” house. My husband had no idea where that was. LOL So from then on, the fire chief put the address on the fire on the blackboard, too. Small town logic. Everyone else on the department knew exactly where that person lived. In all the 100 years of that department’s history, they never had to put down the address before.

I always make Christmas cookies with the grands so I need multiple baking sheets ( they like making their own cookies). My kitchen is the one place I don't need to declutter because I use everything. The first four were easy, finding that fifth item to purge was hard. I was trying to decide which kitchen spoon needed to and then noticed one of my spatulas was looking a little frayed. Whew! I have three whisks: my metallic balloon whisk is a workhorse (so strong), my silicone whisk is to protect my nonstick pans, and my flat whisk is for getting into the edges of pans when I’m making a sauce on the stovetop. I do need to get rid of all my coffee stuff though. Making coffee every two years or so isn’t worth the space it takes up in my kitchen and life.

I sometimes use it to break up fried ground beef for tacos or something. I use my waffle maker for French Toast and some people use it for other things. I have an egg separator that I use at Christmas for one of my cookies, but I could use it more often because the ingredients aren't seasonal. (Try getting candied cherries in April!) Crazy busy day! But I’m doing this before I crawl into bed. Had a good handful of utensils in the one drawer & the croc on the counter. Why do we keep so many spoons and wisks and basting brushes, and rubber scrapers! Holy cow does this clear up so much space! I know I have a rice steamer in my basement I don’t need (someone gifted it to my hubby and I when we got married …wasn’t even on our registry. Made steamed rice and steamed veggies with it a few times…but not for the past 5 years or more. So signora to it and all the stuff I collected in my kitchen! Take care of yourself Cas! Good for you to sticking with the firefighting….but make sure to pamper yourself & rest after a long and good hard day. 💜

I love my melon baller when I peel an apple and cut it in half, I can just scoop out the whole entire core really neatly and then I can just slice the apples really quickly and it makes making pies or oatmeal or whatever super easy. It's also great for scooping out the core of a pear. I love my melon baller. I use it all the time

SOOO needed this! Mea culpa! Recently "inherited" many items when MIL went to assisted living. Love the KitchenAid mixer...not so much the doo-dads and thingies. Thanks!

Hubby and i just decluttered kitchen drawers on Day 2 because we had nothing to declutter on surfaces *but* hubby looked in his secondary kitchen tool drawer for this challenge and said "Gooood-bye" to the garlic press! And the tea leaf thingy, and four potato skewer thingies! Woot! But I could not get rid of the ice cream scoop with antifreeze in the handle. It works so well once a decade when I need it 😅
