Hint: After you deep clean the tops of your kitchen cabinets, put a layer of wax paper over the tops or the cabinets. Then, the next time you need to clean up there, just fold up the old wax paper and put down a new layer. I learned this from a professional housecleaning expert.

We have almost no cabinets in our small kitchen, so our pots and pans are on two wall mounted pot racks in our utility room. I never pay attention to what "they" say is out of style. If it works for me, I keep it. Your kitchen looks great and is functional for you. That is all that is important.

I'm so glad I recently found your channel. I'm in my 70's with physical limitations. Been slowly decluttering and it's nice to watch your videos showing us a drawer or two is progress. My house is only 800 square feet so your kitchen and amount of storage space is awesome to me. Wish I had that kitchen, but I'm only one person so I have to make the best use of what I have. My goal also is to have my whole house done by end of 2023 so I'll be tagging along with you.

I'm my opinion minimalism has nothing to do with how many items you own that's a very wrong misperception, it's more about only keeping what matters and making people and experiences first and things(stuff) last in your life. Those of us who struggle with certain illnesses whether physical or mental prefer spaces that inspire them and maybe due to physical limitations it's easier to get around(less furniture) and owning less also means less to clean, and some of us are simply severely overwhelmed(perhaps due to anxiety and such) by too much visual clutter, I hope that makes sense. You be yourself Sophia thats what you've always been the best at and no need to explain yourself! Keep inspiring others! 👍🏽💐

Not needing to aspire for minimalism is such an important message! I am truly a minimalist, but my husband is not and we are in the baby/toddler phase of life probably for the next 5-10 years. As a fellow cook and thrifter I admire your keeping things and re-using. I do have one recommendation tho. The one pan that you pulled out appears to be an old Teflon type pan that is very scratched. Lol. I stopped the video to add the previous comment this will teach me to watch then comment This is a kind warning that can be a dangerous piece to cook with. I would like to see you replace or give up those types of pans. But think everything else you do is so true to the most of us older and thrifty (lets face it next to frugal ) cooks I remember my grand's and my parents warning us about re-using re-purposing everything and I try to continue this today. But then again safety first.

You are so good at putting the important things in to words AND showing that by your actions. Thank you! I found your channel last year on my search for ‘sustainable’ ideas and how-to’s. I love your minimalistic maximalism!!! Keep the things that work for YOU, and send the rest on its way to new homes or (if it can’t be mended) to recycling. And! I am so happy you decided to trash the frying pan. The Danish Consumer association (TÆNK) has just reminded their members of the importance of disposing of any Teflon pan or pot with even the smallest of scratches in regards to PFAS. (It ‘cost’ me my favourite sauté pan today😳).

Sophia, I know how much you love your Spice of Life collection, but those shelves are making me nervous! That stuff is heavy, and your shelves are sagging just the tiniest bit. I know you're super handy (go you!) and I'd love to see you possibly do a few cross braces and possibly a tiny little bullnose front on them to keep anything from sitting too far forward. I've been watching you for years and I can't even believe how much you're able to get rid of now!!! Your house used to look overwhelming, and nothing had pride of place because *everything* was special. Now anybody could walk in and identify what possessions you actually care about. And don't get me started on your Vaseline/uranium glass!!! I just want one tiny piece (maybe a toothpick holder or the like) and I'll be happy, as I have no display space and it would look ridiculous in my kitchen.

This morning I began decluttering my cabinet where I keep my baking pans. It's a long cabinet and hard to reach the far right side. I had my daughter get down there and she pulled out my large container of cake molds. Lo and behold, stuck in the back was a charcuterie set of bamboo boards, still in the box. I had forgotten I even had it. I don't know how long it's been there. I only know my son helped me declutter one time and he stuck it in the back. He's been living in another state for 7 years so it's been a long time in the back. I 'm happy we discovered it because I almost bought one at Christmas, then changed my mind. Now I have a big one and its smaller boards that I forgot about. I can't even remember who gave it to me. Also, I wanted to mention that I didn't know you could remove the drawer to the stove until 4 years or so ago. I said let's clean this and I could see the floor underneath part of the side. I pulled it and it came out. What a mess! We have 2 cats. Under that drawer were various items some of which were cat food, cat hair, elastic hair bands, a couple of toy mice and a few magnetic tiny ducks that had fallen off the refrigerator. It was a treasure trove of junk. Not any more. And like you, I am afraid to see if I can move the refrigerator. It's not on a small dolly so it may be hard to do, but this is my year to declutter. You've been inspirational.
