When Walter O'Malley moved to Los Angeles and took all his marbles with him, it was done very quickly because the City of New York wouldn't cut him tax breaks for building a new ballpark. The AAA Los Angeles Angels were still in Wrigley Field and Gilmore Stadium, home of the AAA Hollywood Stars, was demolished in 1958. Construction of Dodger Stadium would take time, especially as property in Chavez Ravine in the Elysian Park neighborhood had to be acquired by either sale by homeowners or eminent domain. Dodger Stadium didn't open until 1962.
