The Bee Gees are misunderstood..Their influences were with Soul, Motown and Funk(Al Green, Marvin Gaye etc).... So in their mind prior to their huge success, they had just done a Soul/Funk album.. The Disco era recuperated it, just like the Punk movement labeled the Ramones as Punk .. Even though in their minds, the Ramones always considered they were just doing heart felt Rock and roll.

There was disco, but the Bee Gees were the Bee Gees, a whole other animal. I'm an old school metal head, so the Bee Gees were big when I was ten years old, and I liked them then and now. Just a great group, great songwriters. These covers are amazing!
@christocr
3 жыл бұрын
Yep. They just happened to hit it with this style of music at the time when disco was the thing--and yeah, it was danceable and all. BUT, you listen to the big "disco bands" of the time, and none of them sounded like the Bee Gees. I was the same as a kid--into hard rock, Zep, Aerosmith, Van Halen, AC/DC, etc--but I've always loved this stuff by the Bee Gees.
