This arrived in a large ecovacs branded box with pictures of the robovac on the front along with additional details around the sides. Once opened you are greeted with a quick start guide that takes you through the setup step by step, and also has a QR code to get the ecovac application. Everything is very well packed and protected.
I found the unpacking fairly straight forward with the main robovac unit inside a separate box, and the omni station having the dust bag, filter, dirty water and clean water tanks ready fitted. The dual sided brushes and mop pads clip in with the mop pads giving a click sound when they are correctly fitted, with the brushes being colour coded.
I put the ecovac application on my phone and went through the setup to add the vacuum. The setup process went smoothly following the onscreen prompts, and while the vacuum was fully charging I filled the water tank with cold water and a small amount of floor cleaning solution.
After it had fully charged I went through mapping the house which I found quite impressive, giving both a 2D and 3D viewing option. The application is very detailed but also in my opinion well laid out and easy to navigate, with a multitude of different cleaning modes from quite to max, mopping only, vacuum and mop, or vacuum only. You have the ability to via the app to also isolate cleaning areas.
My house is made up of 80% wooden floor with the bedrooms being carpet, and one round rug. I set the robovac to vacuum and mop and set it going, and it started the cleaning process. I did find it quite loud but no louder than a standard hand held device. The performance of the mopping and vacuuming I found extremely good, covering the whole house. The vacuum wll return to the omni station when needed to empty dirty water and the dust, and by the colour of the dirty water I was assured it had been cleaning well.
I have a 10mm drop into the kitchen, and when in mopping mode the vacuum is unable to climb this which I found a bit disappointing as it means I have to set it to clean that area separately. I found the lifting of the mop section when going over the rug or carpet worked perfectly. This does not come with any replacement brushes, dust bags or removable mopping pads which I would have expected.
Overall this performs really well, and is certainly very powerful. I found the mopping system works great, and I like that it will return to the omni station for cleaning and emptying when needed. The supporting application has a multitude of options and different cleaning modes along with being able to schedule cleaning, and I found it easy to navigate. I did find it could not climb a 10mm rise between the kitchen and living room floor, and due to the height of the sensor it can’t go under very low units or beds. Overall impressive with a couple of very minor issues.
