Yes the original mix/production of When a blind man cries just suits the mood of the lyrics so well. The band sound as if they are in your living room and it’s my favourite slow blues solo by Blackmore. You may be aware of the following. The other stellar version IMO is on Live at the Olympia (Paris). Cranked up, the middle to end section is breathtaking. On KZitem you can find Ian Gillan doing blind man with the blind blues guitarist Jeff Healy ... Great emotional playing.

Great picks from the Amazon catalogue of Deep Purple. One other show I'd love to hear is a rant about why Deep Purple live, never play songs from Coverdale era. When I get to see a show with Purple, I would love to hear songs from the whole production. So why do they only play songs that Gillan sang in the past and present? I'd heard an interview with Ian Paice and he said that there are so many songs from periods where Gillan sang so it wouldn't be possible to fit in the other incarnations catalogue. In my opinion that is weird since Deep Purple is bigger than mark II and mark V. As a matter of fact they do play 1 song from mark I that wasn't in Gillan production so the logic in why they wouldn't play music from mark III and IV ain't coherent with the words from Paice. What's your take on this Pete?

I think it’s only now looking back over 52 years that this band in all its forms can truly be appreciated for what they are ....The best rock band of the 60’s 70’s 80’s 90’s 00’s 10’s 20’s. Okay that’s a bit over the top but that’s how I feel personally. What other band could put out Concerto for group and orchestra and In Rock within a few months of each other or with new guitarists, put out albums with the quality/diversity of Come taste the band and Purpindicular. As producer Martin Birch said “ Deep Purple were the best at what they did ... without a shadow of doubt“ 1- Why didn’t Rosemary (ever take the pill) 1969 album called Deep Purple. Great solos from Ritchie. 2- And the address. 1968 Shades of Deep Purple. Great expansive psychedelic instrumental. Soaring swooping solo from Ritchie which Hendrix liked apparently. 3- No No No . 1971 from Fireball. Great vocals and whole band performance 4- Twist in the tale 1992 ??. The battle rages on. 5- Son of Alrik. Great instrumental/jam/outtake by the band from a single b side in 1974. Longer version on, I think the remaster of Burn. Always felt they could have developed it into a long form prog masterpiece with lyrics. Perhaps more of a Rainbow song ( It was recorded a year or so before Rainbow formed) 6- Coronarias redig. B side instrumental from Burn era 1973/4. 7 - Silver tongue from Bananas. Just brilliant playing/arrangement/groove.
