Can you use any kind of noodles like the yellow noodles to do this also? Just wondering 🤔

Sadly, no (apologies for the clickbaity title). These specific kind of noodles have banking soda or something mixed in that allows them to plump up when fried, unlike regular rotini noodles.

Do you think using the Splenda cup for cup would work instead of using sugar in the cinnamon sugar mix?

I don't see why it wouldn't. Also, monkfruit or Stevia might also be good low carb options?

Cool man. Thanks. Good video. Ever used the Granpappy?

Thanks! And absolutely! I have one under my counter actually, though I've moved to this fryer (and pan frying in a cast iron pan with oil) in recent years simply because these are easier to clean (I can take them apart and I don't have to stick electronics in the sink where water could potentially get inside). But the GranPappy is a great fryer.

I got so excited to do this I bought a deep fryer and everything lol. I’ve been on a cinnamon twists kick from Taco Bell lately. Unfortunately, these things taste completely different than Taco Bell’s. Taco Bell twists are a fraction of the weight these things are. Completely different than Taco Bell. Just looks somewhat similar.

Taco Bell probably has their own formulation, using more sodium bicarbonate to make them puff up more in the oil. Same food, just different recipe, in other words. Apparently you can run them through the microwave and they'll puff up too, though I doubt the sugar/cinnamon will stick, and it'll taste more bland.

Yeah, and these things are pretty light, almost the texture of pork rinds, so they don't hold the heat like a chicken tender would.

They're special shells. They have additional baking soda mixed in, I believe...though that could be wrong.

Does it take a specific kind of rotini pasta?

Yeah, it's actually a specific kind called Duros from Mexico. (Not the brand name, they're just called Duros).
