"Deep Purple In Rock", from which this song originates, started a new era; the era of Hard Rock. Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath were still dabbling in heavy blues in those days, but Deep Purple opened the can of worms by basing their music completely in rock 'n' roll and bringing it to the next level. A level hitherto never heard.

@@geraldherrmann787 Yeah. Journalists always talk about the "holy trinity" of Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, but I myself always saw Uriah Heep as the fourth band belonging in that "holiness". Especially with their first five albums. Man, they were incredible. Cheers dude.

“Y’all.” Yep, that abouts sums it up. (Ritchie Blackmore mind boggling guitarist and same for Ian Gillan vocals and Jon Lord keys.) A different style band, but if you want “live” greatness and a guitarist that Jimi Hendrix admired, check out Chicago’s “25 or 6 to 4” live at Tanglewood, 1970.

I wish I could hear this tune for the first time again, that's at least 30 years in the rear view mirror which is why I enjoy reactions to it. The answer to why they are so good is Practice, which coincidently is how you get to Carnegie Hall. Good reaction, I enjoyed this reaction. Get some Black Sabbath in your life, start with War Pigs and work from there.

I need to tell you a story about the next song you should react to. Musicians do not make money from records. The record companies have sleazy accountants who get it all. Musicians get their money from concerts. But they need to sell records to keep people going to concerts. The Rolling Stones found the answer: build a mobile recording studio in a truck. Record the concerts. When Les Zeppelin was making an album at a country house named Hedley Grange they borrowed the Stones mobile. The Stones knew very well how rock musicians treat things, being rock musicians themselves. They sent their business manager, Stuart, along with the truck to minimize damage. Zep was recording an insignificant song, just space filler on the record. It was missing something. Stuart spotted a piano. It had not been touched in at least ten years. Stuart ran through it one time, remembered which keys were in tune, then sat in with Led Zep and improvised the piano portion of the song. The thing is, Stuart was not good enough to play for or with other people. Stuart had never played for anyone but immediate family and his piano teacher. A brief recap: The piano was at least ten years out of tune A fourth of the keys were off tune Stuart had one run through to figure out which keys did not work He improvised using the remaining keys While sitting in with Led freaking Zeppelin. Boogie with Stu. They named the song for him. See for yourself if Stu was good enough to play for other people.

The drummer kinda looks like Joey Ramone of The Ramones... But this is one of the few rock ballads that I can mostly sing with. I can't do the falsetto's without injuring myself. Would you like a couple of challenges? Jinjer "Pieces" (the astrological sign) small Ukrainian band out of the death metal genre. And either Band Maid or Love Bites... both are hard rock or light metal from Japan. Either of them I don't believe have a bad song/performance out there. Band Maid interacts more, but Love Bites sings in English... Note: this group is also looking for a replacement bassist; the one that had been one of the founders recently resigned from the group. Miho will be sorely missed. I'm looking forward to seeing reactions to any of these.
