Hike with me in Olympic National Park. Getting up Blue Mountain requires driving the infamous Deer Park Road which scares many people, but was fun for me. Starting from the Deer Park Campground, I hiked 8 miles round trip with about 2200 feet of elevation gain. A good portion of the trail is under tree cover but the rest is exposed. Once you break out into the open, there's amazing 360 degree views. It's a steady uphill climb, some parts really steep. There's a boot path up to the summit of Maiden Peak and a summit marker to find. Summit views include: Sequim, Strait of Juan de Fuca, Vancouver Island, Canada, Mt. Baker and the Olympic Mountains. After the Maiden Peak hike, I returned to camp then drove up to the top of Blue Mountain where the short Rainshadow Trail takes you up to the summit. The sunset was breathtaking! Watch until the end.
Thank you for watching. Please leave no trace. Happy Trails!
