In the early days of Spring 2021, instrument designers Peter Blasser (based in Berlin, Germany) and Daniel Fishkin (based in Virginia, USA) convened on the internet for a series of conversations.
This was also the reunion of their “soldering band”, Deer Tick-a band which does not play live shows or even instruments, but rather solders circuits together.
The directive of these talks was to explore the nuances of instrument building, and as well, the intricacies of hearing, specifically through the intertwined conditions of tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and misophonia (hatred of sound)
The flow of these conversations were continually interrupted by the listenings of another mysterious inhabitant.
This is their story.
