My 2015 X590 starts right up in the winter . Mine is also in a unheated unattached garage. To change the oil filter , JD makes a cap wrench that fits right over the filter. I put JD arm rests on my seat and from looking at the side of yours they can be added to the seat. They make the ride more comfortable while mowing. I need to see if I can easily change out the seat base for the newer style like yours.

Glad to hear about the cold weather starts. I really don’t anticipate any issues but it’s my first time with the fuel injection on one of these things. I was looking at those armrest kits. I have armrests on my other tractor and miss having them on this new one. Definitely something I’ll be adding in the near future.

The 590 is looking good. My 2023 580 is at 48 hrs about ready for its second oil change ( 1st at 8 hrs)and first tranns fluid change. My trans fluid also went to the fill line after the first hour of use. They should tell us that. I love the seat and power steering.

I agree. Dealer’s should include a quart and a heads-up. Wouldn’t be a big deal if you were expecting it. And definitely agree on the seat and power steering. I have a lot of trees to mow around so the steering is much appreciated. 👍

That plastic thing that gets in the way of the oil filter is attached with two screws. Easy to get the plastic off.

Yes, my tranny fluid went down to the mark after first few hours of use. I contacted dealer. Yes, they ought to tell new owner to expect that. Not good access to the fill plug either. The annoying thing I found is that the deck creeps down when not in use sitting in the shed. I contacted dealer. They said display models in showroom did same thing! I’m concerned that there is a leaky valve that will cause trouble later. Mine starts good in cold; mine stored in an outbuilding. I have the mulch control option on my deck. This does a good job. Mulches the grass and the leaves! I find that the baffles that this is made of are easily bent, the gate has bent on mine several times. I’ve had to bend back in place. I have a few surface roots and once hit a small stub of a stump. Ought to be made out of heavier metal. The blade hits the gate when bent. Right now it is held open about a quarter inch with a wire on it. Imagine that…a baling wire job on a new John Deere. I told dealer. It does burn gas! Gas mileage is not good. The transaxle lock is a good deal. Has gotten me out of tight places. Don’t try to turn with it on! Takes a little bit for it to go out of gear. Goes out faster if you back up a bit. I think the lever for raising the deck is unhandy. I think the reverse safety switch is unhandy…press two buttons in order to back up…find the buttons while I have the limbs of a bush hanging in my face! Overall, I like the tractor. Power steering is great. Tilt wheel is handy. High back seat is comfy, but can’t see the hitch. Can’t reach back and turn on fertilizer spreader.

I appreciate the comments. The mower deck or in my case in the winter the snow blade or snowblower drifting down while sitting is not unusual. I’ve had a few different X500 series tractors and it’s common on all of them. I also have a 2025R and all of the hydraulics on that will also, settle in a short period of time. I don’t think it’s specific to John Deere. I thought about the mulching kit, but haven’t done it yet. I’m going to see how this thing does chopping up leaves this fall and then I’ll decide from there.
