Damn son, that solo gives me chills!! You are so freakin' good that I can't but help listen to your cover vids over and over. I've always had an acute affinity for pre-Slang Def Leppard, but your mastery of these songs has given me an even greater appreciation of the intricacy and detailed composition of these tunes. From the inversions and triads to your keen ear for the tonal nuances within each song, your playing (and discussion \ teaching vids) have helped reinforce what I always felt I knew about Def Lep!! They were ahead of their time in many respects and their music will hold up long after they are gone. But cheers to you mate for tapping into your passion and using your skills to not only ignite fans' passion for the music in a different way, but also for reaching out and passing the torch, so to speak, by helping teach others what you have learned. I know I will certainly pass on word about you to my two guitar-playing, loving buds. Take care and continued success in your music endeavors!!

Thanks, I really appreciate the kind words! I feel very fortunate that I have been able to share my love for the band through these videos with others who feel the same. The guitar work, production and writing on these songs have been the main reasons why I enjoy them so much and why I picked up the guitar. So if these videos can inspire and motivate others to listen and/or pick up an instrument themselves then it's the best compliment I can get. Thanks again, keep rocking!!! :)

That's really cool that they inspired you and now you get to inspire others. I'm envious of your talent (in a good way) as we're not all lucky enough to pursue our passions or do what we were meant to do (sometimes it takes too long to find or other circumstances prevail), but it seems pretty clear to me that you are doing exactly what you were born to do. Not to say that you don't have other interests/pursuits/talents but I know how time-intensive learning the guitar can be. And sometimes it takes a lot of courage to plow through with determination to overcome obstacles and achieve that level of expertise. I hope that you are able to flourish through your music however best suits you. Cheers! JB PS -- have you ever been fortunate enough to meet the band or talk shop with Phil or Viv or Sav?
@bwm5150

The learning process has always been luring to me. No doubt there were many nights of frustration where you don't want to pick up the guitar again but I'll always found I wanted to, no matter how put off you can get. Over time your fingers get used to the feeling so it becomes less of a struggle and more enjoyable. I think muscle memory is something you have to come to terms with and realise that it's sometimes not going to feel good for a little while but eventually you can get there. I have not met any of the band. I saw them once here in Scotland in 2008. I have met the guys from Toto who I saw in 2015. I adore the songwriting of Steve Porcaro and I love Toto, especially the Joseph Williams era. :) Thanks again!

I reckon you need to have a certain threshold for pain, so to speak, in order to learn something like the guitar, especially to get to this level of knowledge and proficiency. You obviously have that, and a shit-load of patience! :-) Only thing I can liken it to is my addiction to the game of golf and my love of the mechanics of the golf swing. I do a lot of analysis (not only of my own) of both today's players as well as the all-time greats like Hogan, Snead and Nicklaus to see what common threads unite them. Like in anything there are many ways to "skin a cat" but there are always certain unifying principles that need to be cemented as the foundation of a golf swing. Took me over 20 years to get to the point where I can pinpoint something I need to tweak or adjust, and then incorporate it into my swing's muscle memory through practice readily. I'm no Tiger Woods certainly, but I can "change" my swing in a couple of months and have it working on the course without having to think about swing keys etc. Maybe I'll try to teach one day when I'm retired because I do love swing analysis and I seem to have a knack for helping my buddies with pointers and tips on the course when they are struggling. It's almost more satisfying then helping myself! Until they get good enough to beat me!! Hahaha Also, I'll need to check out some Toto as I only know the couple of songs that were made popular by radio back in the day. If you say it's worth your time, then it's worth mine! ;-)

This has always been my favorite guitar driven song on the Hysteria album. It’s the perfect example of the harmony chords that Phil and Steve used to really make a song stand out amongst their peers as opposed to the cliché rhythm/lead approach. By the way, you Sir nailed it and that solo was fluid!! Great job!!🔥
