Have you ever been in an abusive relationship? You do everything you can to not poke the bear and since no one was willing to help her, she chose to go along to get along. Its called fawning. They are not always scary, remember they can be charming, that why you fall so hard in the first place, sweet and loving, until a blink and you say the wrong thing. I personally know what its like. You can be joking and laughing and having what you think is a good time, until one wrong word that sets them off. Then within second you go from laugh to screaming, as your arm is being twisted to near breaking until you are cowering on the floor below. What's even worse, is the nasty demeaning things they said that rips your heart out. The confusion you feel, because you believed this person loved you. They will take all those things you have let your guard down to tell them, your deepest regrets and fears and they will twist it all up, till you feel mentally and emotionally broken.

The only thing that matters is whether or not she was in IMMINENT threat of death or great bodily harm. She stated she held him at gunpoint, then fired 4 shots from a distance of more than three feet and all of the bullets entered from the side and back, which means he was NOT coming toward her and was likely in the process of turning to get away when she started shooting. No matter what happened before, that’s not self defense, it’s murder.

This man got married to another woman only 9 months after his wife died of a sudden heart attack. Hid his new marriage from his daughter, family and friends. He let the daughter know after the fact. The girl was still grieving and this man was already making moves to leave the state with his new wife…oh and his 15 year old daughter still lived with him by the way. They're seen by a cardiologist on a VERY regular basis. They're TESTED on a very regular basis. They're given CTA's and/or angiograms on a VERY regular basis. It would be a huge shock for that to happen to someone if she did, in fact, have such a serious heart condition because her cardiologist and other specialists would move heaven and earth to prevent that from happening. it might help if she wasnt trying to portray herself as this downtrodden, eyes downcast, grey hairs, dark circles under the eyes shell of a person if the photos of her and her daughter, between his death and her trial, didnt show her looking suntanned and bright. That shouldnt be what you judge people on. But if she is going to make that CLEAR of a performance, people are going to react to it as such. Theres no doubt the dude was way problematic, probably abusive at times. She could have gotten out of it and been in a quite comfortable position. But she didnt have enough on him to be able to control divorce and custody proceedings so she tried the performance of a life time. Shes just not as good at acting as she may have been at ballet. This is what an emotionally unevolved human THINKS is mimicking how a battered victim of a self defense charge would look and behave. They dont really get it and so the performance is always OFF. Ive never seen a young woman trying to show off some grey hairs and a lack of concealer more obviously.

True but to be fair the physical dynamic between an average man and an average woman is skewed in the man’s direction with regards to physical strength. It would be a lot harder for a man to convince a jury that his wife wouldn’t let him leave the bedroom and that he was forced to shoot her multiple times until she was dead than it would be for a woman to convince a jury of the same regarding her husband. ok and you are saying that ashley isnt an abuser, when right now she is abusing her child as a pawn, pushing the child in the street to protest to set her free . Most non abusive mothers would think of the childs mental health and well being, but as always it is always about ashley and what she wants. The same way she got pissed of at Eva for putting a rose from her mothers grave into the box and ashley raging at doug for hours on end how Eva didnt respect her even though Eva just lost her mother a year earlier. The same way that ashley put her child through the system with false child abuse claims and false sexual abuse claims. Ashley manipulated doug keeping him on a leash while living at her mothers house and stringing him along while dating another man behind his back. The same way ashley got upset in the court when the prosecutor caught her in her lies, immediatly ashley starts fake crying , which is i am sure is how ashley behaved 24/7 around doug when ashley never got her way, like a toddler. To me it seems like ashley had the anger issues because when she dosent get her way she is able to yell at doug in the car for hours while there is a gun in the car. It shows that she is the one who has full control of the relationship especially when she used doug to have a child, so she could use her child as a punishment tool when she didnt get what she wants and what ashley wanted is dougs money.

I was the victim of DV. My ex husband had an incredible talent to present himself as an angel of light, all gentle, naive, and well-meaning. NOTHING could be further from the truth. When I ran away, and pressed charges for DV, almost nobody believed me. He saw to it that I lose my job, the house, he even bribed the judge at the criminal court to give him a suspended sentence instead of sending him to jail (although he did confess to violence during the proceedings - go figure...) AND he bribed the family court judge to give him all our children a few weeks after he'd been convicted of DV and gross neglect of 4 young kids. I had no money and he had, that's it. I even went to the media and told my story only to finally get two kids back. He got other two and completely blocked me from seeing them as he left them with his mother to raise them. People who have never been a victim of a manipulative abuser just don't understand. I don't know whether Ashley did this on purpose or was trying to defend herself at that moment. What I do know though is it that commenting in a way that the denies or dismisses DV is extremely ignorant and offensive. A man who hides his marriage from his own child who needs him most after her mom died is a crafty narcissist. Capable of anything.

I will never judge this woman for shooting him. I’m glad she was brave enough to do it after what he put her through. His daughter is either just as narcissistic as him, a victim, or simply too naive to see her father for what he really is. Ashley is not a perfect victim, MOST DV VICTIMS ARE NOT PERFECT! I don’t like the way she handled a lot in this case, and her fake seeming tears in court really didn’t come off authentic. But I didn’t need to be swayed because whether she’s perfectly innocent or not, I see her as the victim of DV, and her and her child better off without him.
