I remember my first time wrestling (as a 220), I remember my coach put me up against a freshman (I was a sophomore) who happened to be a 180. The weight and height difference was hilarious. My naive young mind thinking this was some kind of joke, until I realized the kid actually knows how to defend. Pretty much the whole time he just had a hand to my head stopping me from doing anything. Nobody is good at anything their first time. You’re going to be embarrassed, fail, sometimes humiliated. But the real sport comes in your ability to take those L’s and rise above. Edit [1] Wow that’s a lot of likes. To Clarify, I was 220 starting off. I had wonderful coaches and was surrounded by wrestlers much better than me; so I quickly dropped to 200 and continued wrestling at 220 as part of the varsity team. This was all in one season. What I’m trying to say, is open yourself up to new things. Never try and fool yourself into believing your the best person in the room. Because I let myself get embarrassed, and because of my humility, naturally everybody wants to help you; when you throw your ego out the window it becomes 100x easier. I allowed myself to tap into the same understanding as the more seasoned wrestlers. Think of it like this. These people have repeated certain moves over thousands of times to perfection. When you learn to perfectly copy and perform those moves from their understanding; your growth is rapid.

@@Willygman he is the only one who could throw straight punches and use his feet to come forward at the same time, even throws combinations like two lead jabs followed by a left cross. He did look sloppy towards the end but the first few sequences were pretty good. The second guy was throwing a long jab before even moving his body forward, no power there and uncoordinated almost falling over in the process of every move. Third guy was throwing hooks with both hands, very goofy looking. There is no foot work or pivoting whatsoever it’s all arms, my friends and I call those rabbit punches.

people don’t realize fighting MUST be trained for. when you fall back on instinct in the moment of a fight it will be too late to go sicko mode. the prep must be done ahead of time. “you only have to feel the fear of unpreparedness once to know you should never suffer it again.”

@pickleo2756
2 жыл бұрын
@@honestlee9921 the cool thing about dodging untrained punches is that they'll get winded faster because they're not used to the movement and most likely trying to hit you with 100% power which means that they got about 30 seconds to a minute to fight at that pace before they burn themselves out. So, you use speed and vision and balance with your head movement till they're tired. When they're tired, you throw with power to the head and the body to further wind them. The head to get their respect and get that guard high so the body shot is open. You could then proceed to wrestle them and stay heavy on top of their torso to make it very difficult to breathe, while applying pressure from your forearm onto their neck. Systematically break down their cardio. Head movement helps a lot in that.
@pickleo2756
2 жыл бұрын
Theres so much that can be done with head movement, but generally the best thing to do is to stay calm so your reaction time doesnt suffer from anxiety, have the vision to see whats coming which will help improve reaction time as well, staying ready/fast/mobile, making reads on the strikes they're throwing so you know what to use to counter them.

When people are leaning like that and focusing on avoiding their head getting hit like that, you should start blasting him with body shots. Then he’ll respect the potential of his body getting hit, and he’ll have to fight you like a normal person again instead of just leaning like a mad man

Yeah and then he starts unloading those kicks on my untrained butt...good advise
@dr.penguin9412
2 жыл бұрын
@@hermensonsantana3090 well if you’re missing his head with every single punch you throw because he is leaning way too much, then obviously you should try throwing some body punches, and make him respect your body game, and make him stop leaning so much. That way, he will have to fight a normals stance against you, giving you better and easier opportunities at his head. It’s like they say in football about how you have to run the ball even if you don’t have a good run game, “You have to keep them honest”. Otherwise the defense is just going to go all out covering your receivers and blitzing the quarterback with no fear at all of worrying about the run. And if he tries kicking you, block his kicks and counter him with punches or kicks yourself, or bum rush him and got on top of him. I’m not a professional fighter at all, but I just think it’s crazy when I see these videos of people dodging every single head shot while leaving their bodies wide open for easy haymakers, and the opponent just continues miss at their head
