So good to see you keeping on. I crewed for a guy who got seasick but was determined his boat would win. He was never happy if we spared the boat, he was happiest when we we were dipping rails. "don't stop until it breaks". BTW we won!

A new sailing channel. Nice. The med doesn't quite seem as warm as I pictured it. Those accents are challenging for an American. I miss parts of it because you speak so fast . Had to check out the first couple of episodes to get an overall idea of this vlog and I think for new sailors you are doing very very well. I was wondering about the fear of healing until I saw it was a Jeanneau with a suppository keel. I get it now. Nice liveaboard but don't know about rough weather sailing. Anyway , subscribed and liked. Too many of the other vlogs have turned into baby channels. This is refreshing. Fair winds.

Heya, oh don’t worry, it’s pretty damn hot in summer but our episodes are about 6-8 weeks behind. Just last week in real time we were in Albania and it was 34 celcius 😅🔥 the water doesn’t get super warm like asia or carribean though unfortunately but nice and refreshing as it’s super dry through summer in the med! Hahah whoops, yes us Aussie’s do tend to talk fast 🙈 Ah so please explain what a suppository keel is? So ours is a bulb keel and we have the performance keel so it’s Deeper than the usual sun oddysey’s at 1.95m Hahah yeah loads of channels having babies now isn’t there! Some do it well and still keep in interesting and some not so much 😏 Cheers and thanks for tuning in! We hope you enjoy 😊

Respectfully suggesting you always start out with one reef in the mainsail, being easier to take out than put in. We always cruise under reefed main, making life onboard more comfortable, balancing out the headsail as sloops are front-wheel drive.

Agree!! We usually Always do this too now unless we know it’s going to be super light winds. I’d rather be safe than get pushed all over the place, Always scares me a little. Thanks for watching Rauf 😁

Weirdly, I would rather be sailing in rough sea like you, especially for a day sail then be sitting at my comfortable desk at work. You would recommend to keep both your sails up most of the time, except maybe dead downwind. In high wind you reduce both sail, until you get a proper setting where you are not fighting with the helm. Both sail help keep the boat in balance. Keep enough sail power to push through the wave and not being bounce around. The real navigation rule is to do everything to avoid collision. Less maneuverable boat and working boat (cargo, ferry, cruise ship) have unwritten priority. As you learned, you stay clear of all large metal boat going 15-20 Kts. Even with other sailboat cruiser, don't assume they know the rules or will respect them. I love visiting the Med with you. Thank you for your videos.

Wow really!! So the passage from RHODES to karpathos can get pretty bad? The wind wasn’t too crazy but the swell was super choppy and short so not fun to sail in. We were getting smashed with water and thrown around a bit.

@@kostasvasilopoulos4468 wow that totally makes sense. It’s pretty exposed down that way isn’t it! The 20-25 knots was ok but the waves were not fun!! But I really would’ve been getting scared if the wind picked up more. We’ve been in 55 knots in turkey before but luckily no swell really that day

No worries at all ☺️ we always try to reply to everyone’s comments. We always appreciate your messages. I think we got about 7.5 knots maximum on that trip. But definitely didn’t average that number. When the swell is choppy or one the wrong angle it pushes the boat around it tends to slow you down a bit unfortunately. But 7.5 is a great speed. We usually average between 5-6 on a decent day of wind Oh thanks so much, cheers to you 😁
