I was born with scoliosis which my parents and doctor never diagnosed. My mother screamed at Me to straighten my posture whenever I walked or sat at the table. I never knew why I couldn't straighten my shoulders. When I was in my 30's I was finally told by a doctor that I has a severe case of scoliosis and my spine was "twisted "! I am 66 now and have degenerative dic disease and sciatic. I walk all bent over and can't stand or sit for long periods of time. Laying down is the only way for relief. The orthopedic Dr. Says all they can do is put a rod and screws in my back! I am not going to do that! I just don't understand why there is isn't a cure for the problems with the spine when they can replace a face and land on the moon and prepare to go to mars!
@Chiroman527

Amazingly Chrissy, I just made simlar comments on the Video comments section without having read your comments here. But I used the Mars' landing as a more poignant question directed to the medical community about being better able to "fix" this. Of the 6 Spinal and /or neuro surgeons I have consulted since 2018, only 1 , a Spinal Doctor at Mt. Sinai Hospital in NYC, pointed out that Scoliosis can have much more of any effect on your health than many doctors will recognize. The various nerves that go to each organ in the body spew out from the spine!! Pinching of those nerves from the twisted spine (mine is curved and twisted) can cause stomach issues, breathing issues (the diaphragm , Lungs), and more. The other 5 never even mentioned it.

Dr., great Info. I've seen your later videos and just stumbled upon this one. DDD is Horrible - invoking Chronic Pain and Stiffness that people who don't have it (like my wife) just don't understand!! The terrible stiffness ROBS your strength making Chronic Fatigue a part of your Life. I have Spondyliosis , Stenosis, DDD, facet joint arthritis in many areas of my spine from the SI Joints (a Crucial aspect to all of the rest), to the top of my Skull. Chronic pain / Stiffness invokes Chronic Anxiety / Depression, all energy is diminished. I'm 70 yo, and a sufferor of these ailments for decades. In addition, I have dextroscoliosis of 25 degrees due to (IMO) the 1 inch shorter right leg sustained from a fractured femur in 1966 playing HS Football. That LLD was left unaddressed by the doctor and my parents and over the years, that Body transformation Trauma has wreaked Havoc. I'm attacking these maladies with as much natural substances I can discover. I only take the oaccassional Advil or Alleve (I find mixing it 1 Tyenol works very well for immediate pain alleviation), no Opinoids, on the Real Bad days or after I've done some slughtly strenuoous activities (like bending or lying down to play with Grandkids). The worst part of all of it , despite Pain Management doctor visits [which can be a waste of time other than to get updated MRIs to watch the progress], Acupuncture, 6 different Chiros, and all the Personal research I conduct, that it keeps Encoraching, it keeps getting little by little worse. That is THE worst aspect to this. One piece of advice that you don't mention is that your Discs are 80% Water. I never drank water ona regular basis....yes plenty of coffee, but not Water. That is crucial to stay Hydrated. I guess i copuld write a Novel of my misery, and I'm sure there are Millions out there that could as well. We can send a rocket to Mars, control robotic vehicles on Mars' surface by radio signals, yet WE can't like Spinal Issues like this ??

I have a lot of patients that benefit from inversion therapy. Inversion traction does well with issues such as tight muscles and stiff, achy joints. Give it a try, just make sure you can handle being put in an inverted (upside-down) state first!

Gabriel, The doctor here makes a very good point!! Check with your Professional Ortho doc or Pain manangement doc. Mine said No Inversion Table, it could make my Cervical conditions Worse. I have a number of spinal issues throughout my Spine from The SI joints up o my head. So, based on that advice i have Not tried it. be careful with Chiros too!!. I've bee to 6 of them over the past 10 years. The last on I saw who wa helpful, UNTIL, he put me on this Rolling Massage table, back down, that used metal Rollers going up and down my back. When i returned to my car after that session 3 weeks ago, I had a Full Blown VERTIGO attack. I had Vertigo (real room spinning kind), in 2018 after laying on my back on a large Swiss ball to stretch out my back. When I lifted my head, Whoa, the room was spinning round and round for over 15 seconds or more. After seei ng my Neurologist (and my ENT who was very good and informative), doing the Eply manuevers, it recovered somewhat. But after the Chiro session, despite doing Eply exercises, I'm still experiencing Unbalance issues, and slight Vertigo. That Chiro session - Did Something - IMHO , it Pushed something or moved something that should not have been moved, evoking the Vertigo - and teinnitus

Facet issues (usually) respond better to flexion stretches and exercises. The child's pose is a great example. If chiropractic adjustments aren't working, look into traction based treatments like Spinal Decompression Therapy.

I have two slightly bulging discs on the left side of my neck, several in my back on the same side, and two of my lumbar vertebrae have begun to fuse. I also have migraines that start on the left side of my neck and move up, intermittent pain/numbness in my left arm, sciatica in my left leg, and urinary urge incontinence, but no spinal stenosis. Six years ago, I had Chiari Malformation decompression surgery, which was a success, but, I have never had any significant injury to my spine. What would cause it to start so early?

So you believe it is possible to halt disc degeneration?
@DrRowe
4 жыл бұрын
There are many things you can do to help reduce the risk of disc degeneration from progressing. Most of it is just maintaining a healthy lifestyle (diet and exercise). Smoking and excessive drinking are things to avoid. Good posture is key. Everyone as they age will get wear and tear in the spine and have degeneration. Sadly, it's just part of aging -- our bodies just wear out over time. However, maintaining a healthy lifestyle will give you the best odds of limiting its progression.
