I wasn’t clear but I’m actually talking about other players making more. RB was just an example since they do take a beating & get hurt a lot. But for example a QB like Mark Sanchez has $73 million in career earnings or where a QB is making $25M per year & needs better talent around him to win while other guys are taking a beating, at the league minimum of $550K per year. That includes QBs drafted in second or lower rounds. I would much rather see top QB pay of $20-$25M so that the floor for performance based bonus which league pays basically on a per snap basis can be increased.QB is most important with salary cap many great QBs like Brady, Roethlisberger, & Peyton Manning have taken paycuts to keep other talent.

This is because of the marketing campaign the NFL wanted, which the rule changes was a part of. But what is also responsible is the disconnect to what made good teams good. And I think that's a side effect of media disconnect bleeding into some owners heads. I know it's influenced the general public. And the prime example is the Patriots. From the first super bowl that they won with Brady to their last one, all credit has been given to Brady. He has been a constant with the team because he has been their qb in all their super bowl appearances, but what has also been consistent is their level of play has not dropped off in the times that Brady hasn't been able to play during the season. Every time they have needed to play the back up qb they have played the same as they have with Brady. And that has led to a few of their backups getting large contracts with other teams, only for that team to find out later that the qb wasn't that good. Sometimes they find out they are way below average. And you can look at Brady's stats in his first super bowl win. Very pedestrian numbers. But there's never any mention of how good the defense was. Brady is one of the best, but he wouldn't be where he is now without Belichick, being on a good team, being in the weakest division for his entire career, and even a little bit of luck. It being all about the qb has turned into group think. It's even affected the automatic get a qb for commentary

Isn’t this obvious? “Shouldn’t the best player make the most money?”. No. The most valuable player should make the most money. In reality, the player playing the most important position, the position that has the highest potential to completely take over the game, makes the most money. Football is just different. You can’t compare positions like this. You can’t say the QB should make the same amount of money as an OL, or RB, or WR when then QB is so much more valuable in the given NFL ruleset. It is a better comparison to compare all 5 offensive lineman as a unit to the QB, because you need 5 to function, while you only need 1 thrower of the football. As for the comparison to the other sports, like baseball - think of an NFL QB as a starting pitcher who plays the entire game, every game (pending injuries). Of course he should make more money. The ball always goes through him. I don’t think this SHOULD be the case though. I’d love to see rule changes to give value back to the other positions.

Preach Dion, but since you can't say it I'm going to tell you the real truth. It's because the majority of the time the quarterback is a white man. But like everything else that's about to change, no racist intent. But the case that we see with Joe Flacco, is soon to become the norm. Black quarterbacks have learned the passing game pretty much, and with all the athletic talents and abilities, soon more than half of the NFL teams quarterbacks, will be black men, and within 10 years it's a possibility the majority of the quarterbacks in the NFL will be black. But then you will see the story change on the contracts. There was a time when you worked in factories and the white guys drove the forklift, operated the machinery, and the black guys and immigrants were pretty much the package handlers. But rich people love to make money and they love to do it efficiently as possible. So because of a few things such as Bill Clinton's Trade Agreement, they broke the whole system of retirement and 401K down, and brought in a temp company system. The white men moved up to higher levels and the black men and immigrants, moved up to driving the forklift and operating the machinery. But when this happened, forklift drivers went from making $25 an hour or somewhere close to that, to now from 10 to $15 an hour. So you can understand what I mean, but the metrics get even deeper as you go into the $25 an hour they were getting paid was about 15 to 20 years ago, which those positions nowadays you would expect to be making at least 30 to $35 an hour to keep up with the increase of prices in the economy, and here 15 or 20 years later now that blacks and immigrants are doing those jobs the wages are 10 to $15 lower than what they were 20 years ago, and you might have to drive a forklift and work a second job to support your family, but when the white men held those positions at the time $25 an hour was enough to live in a $200,000 house and family living well off. So when the black quarterbacks take over and they start to get paid less, the mind-state will be well that's better than they could have got anywhere else. LOL

All that money should be spent building Dak a better team not on an expensive long-term deal for him.

Tbh, its all about the complexion for protection syndrome & always have been... Its sad to put race in it but majority of the time its right in your face... They make rules to help level the playing field for White QBs in the NFL ( he's our great White hope, dont touch him!!!).... But the same rules do not apply to you as a QB if you are Black playing the position...I have seen Blk QBs get mauled on the field & in the media by defenses & the press...The media pushes the narrative of he runs too much he's not a pocket passer, his accuracy is low or he cant read defenses & the defenses are allowed to tee off on them early & late because the refs say the Blk QB pose as a running threat same rules as a running back therefore a defense should be allowed to maim him by any means...A Blk QB is only allowed to have 2 bad games before he is benched, Yet i see a host of White QBs Stink it up, play mediocre, clutch turnovers, rare playoff wins for years & be rewarded with big contracts, key trades( deck shuffling) or when all else fails make him a backup somewhere but they are never forced out of the league like a Blk QB would be...But in all actuality its only 4 to 5 really good QBs in the NFL... the rest is jus high paid potential & media hype... If a White QB team wins a game then he was the catalyst & the reason the team won, if a Blk QB team wins the game then it was a good team effort or the team had to rally behind & despite his mistakes... if a White QB shouts & gets in his teammates face its called the QB is showing passion, if a Blk QB gets his teammates face its called bullying, being a diva or not being a team player....all of this plays out when both QBs are negotiating their contracts...NFL teams use the positive narrative to pay the Wt QB more & the negative narrative to pay the Blk QB less.. Plus Owners see a Wt QB as more marketable than a Blk QB point blank... & besides most of the skilled positions in the NFL are anchored by Blk players & Owners cant have Blk players or the best player on the team making 100 mill because its not marketable so they push the narrative that they come a dime a dozen unlike the White QB position.... Its a system thats been in place since the beginning of the NFL & always will be....its Convert, Protected & Deflected but also so obvious...TBH... (Now u see why its a uproar when a Blk QB takes a knee & not a uproar for the reason why he decided to take that knee)...

While I disagree with Kap doing it, you are 100 percent right on all fronts, the NFL is a labor argument and they always make up excuses for white qbs. Look at comments about deshaun Watson leadership im sure some people in Houston yearn for the days of Matt shaub.

@@FlawdaBoy4 ofcourse not! Lol Matt Flynn got paid to be Russell Wilson backup! As I said I do believe QBs should probably get paid the most, but with limitations. Meaning you take an average DE,Corner, Running back, receiver,Qb should have like a base salary throughout the league; but the highest overall salaries should go to the best players on teams. If you a Qb who averages like 200 passing yrds per game, and like a Td or 2 I'm not gonna pay you more then a running back who has like 10 rushing touchdowns and 10 recieving TDs averaging 1000 plus yrds a year with atleast 600 catching. Or a De who averages 12-15 sacks a yr. Or even a LT or Guard who maybe allows 3-5 sacks per season. No way!

I think since theres a few dominant older QBs right now that have stomped their place in the team and had success and earned crazy contracts, that now the younger QBs think they're entitled to that legend money right off the bat. And even if you are a legend, take aaron Rodgers, why you gonna be happy with your sack of cash and then have no decent players on your team cuz they cant afford them then we lose 2 seasons in a row. Very very few have earned that money but everyone takes notice and now wants a piece

They dont pay the player, they pay the position. I think the trend really started with Rob Johnson when Buffalo paid him an insane amount of money based on the one good game he played for Jacksonville. I've always said that the only guaranteed with NFL QB's is that most of them will never win a superbowl but they will all make money. no 9 from Detroit comes to mind, Bortles from Jax, Ryan Fitzpatrick the career band aid with cheap adhesive, Chase Daniels and pretty soon Derek Carr will join the group and the list could go on.

I don't really like Deion much but why is this so hard for the people in charge to understand? Like them just saying, well that's just what QBs make now so you have to just pay them...and everybody just repeating it. Says who??? Why are you locking in 30 mill to a QB and not making the playoffs. Drives me insane as a Lions fan. Not only do we lock Stafford up at almost 30 million but he can't do anything himself...he needs a perfect OLine, the best WRs and a top RB, and the best coaches or it's excuse after excuse. If you're making that much...make something work...not to mention he's had good Oline and WRs.

VERY high demand with VERY low supply will almost always result in inflated price. Just how it works. QB is far and away the most important position and there's only 10-15 that are worth what they're paid. But yes, dumping all your money into a QB pretty much makes you unable to spend anything on other positions.

Huge contracts for mediocre QBs cripple organizations. The key to winning is getting a serviceable-to-good QB on his rookie QB. If you don't have one of the top 5, Brees, Luck, Rodgers, type of guys...then you can't give them $20mil+, because you can't afford a team around them.

Why? Beause there are not 20 QBs who deserve to be starters. Many "starters" are simply starting because there is nothing better, and they lose those jobs out of desperation and the need to make change. There is a severe lack of talent at the position for the level of play required to compete, so when you do find a guy who can get the job done, then you lock them up and hold onto them for dear life.
