@@oldwarriorlife my splits were faster below 40. My best time was 4.39. I wasn’t caught in California, and we’ve got twice as many people. BUT in college I had two friends that were very fast. RB’s who went to HS in South Central LA. When we would line up it would be neck and neck. Fun times. But I would’ve enjoyed the competition that’s for sure. Remember, to catch somebody from behind if they have a gap on you, you have to be a tremendous amount faster, not tenths of a second faster. People who can get up to the top speed quicker than others have an advantage when it comes to certain sports. 100 yards wasn’t enough to make up. And I never ever did anything to try to increase my speed, which I should have. Regardless it’s an advantage for anybody. Nothing like running as fast as you can and hearing that wind in your ear, that feeling is a special one.

If a Jamaican runner gets beat by a Chinese runner in the 40 it’s not racist to say, “wow didn’t expect that”. You get into trouble when it’s two random guys on the street who aren’t athletes because there’s no previous metrics to compare it to. Stereotypes are more okay within a sporting area, but it’s problematic with random people.
