I was the drummer on this. Toured with Del a couple of times. One of the nicest guys I toured with. Had some great times with him. He was always one of the boys. Great times.

@@barryirwin60 hi Barry, no, the John Mcsflare band worked for the same agent as us and backed Del before us. Our band was called Impala and we backed Del 1973/4. John Mcsflare band backed The Drifters and Ben E King. We played with Del, Bobby Vee, Mary Wells, Len Barry, Tommy Roe, The Coasters and we were Carl Wayne’s band when he left The Move.

@@christopherbarrows5436 Hi Christopher, Fabulous times for you. Seen videos of Carl Wayne without The Move. What was the band called? I played drums for 40 years from 1967 with local bands then mainly residencies. Loved it but envious of you working with my era of music.

How good is this cat ? Sadly somewhat underappreciated generally , but not in my country Australia . Del was truly the consummately versatile artist , great vocalist , excellent songwriter , and fine arranger . In the wake of a succession of hits here in Australia in the early 60's , he endeared himself to rock and pop fans even more than Elvis , and none more so devotedly than myself . Just love the man and his unforgettable music.

Hello there - I ran the Australian Del Shannon Appreciation Society for many years and had the pleasure of meeting Del on a few occasions. I have also visited his hometown of Coopersville and met the Westovers, his family. He was such a nice man and I have never forgotten his kindness to me. There is a museum there now and I donated many 45's and Ep's released here in Australia. After Hank Williams, Bob Wills he is my favourite artist.

@@happyolddude Thanks for the acknowledgement. Commendations to you for generously donating Del's Aussie vinyl releases to that museum in Coopersville. Like myself , you venerate the great Hank Williams , and in the mid-sixties Del did a tribute album to that artist . I haven't got it regrettably , but I treasure the original Aussie pressings of Del's 45's that I do own. Creditably , most of their so-called B sides are every bit as good as the A sides........

@@happyolddude That's all OK. Thanks for the kind gesture anyway . I was wondering if you have , like I do, that DVD of Del's live concert at Castle Hill RSL in 1989 , and ,if in fact you attended it ? Certainly a fabulous performance . Incidentally , although I've been living in Melbourne for years now , I lived in Sydney during Del's most celebrated era - 1960-1963 .

My fav song sung by del .wish he was still here .Every live performance I saw of him made me like him more and more .On paper he had everything you would want .but what goes on in people's minds no one knows .Many people look like theve got everything they need .but having a peaceful mind can be worth much more .SO GLAD I SAW HIM PERFORM LIVE AND THE BRIEF MEETING I HAD WITH HIM SHOWN ME HE HAD A SENSE OF HUMOUR AND FRAILTIES AND KINDNESS AS WELL AS BEING A NICE PERSON .
