True in the golden era of futbol it was all passion and love for the game. Nowadays all social media, fame, trying to be the next Messi or Ronaldo, trying to gain popularity by showing off skills. The biggest difference is that ppl play to show off and be the best to be more famous but in the golden era all the players played with love and passion, they played cause they were in passionate love for the game and the ball

He was always a system player, phenomenal when the team did well and not so great when it didn't, he thrived off Eriksen and our fullbacks' great delivery, his form dropped when spurs' form dropped in 2019 and when eriksen and the fullbacks left. Since then only elite players like Son and Kane have been consistent because of how poor spurs are as a team. When spurs become good again his form will pick up, that's just the kind of player he is. He's only 24 too, he still has a while to get back. And people calling him lazy cleared didn't watch spurs under Poch, he lead our press and most games would run more than any other player on the pitch.

That's not what a system player means. System players play well with a perticular style of play but not others. E.g. Soucek plays well in West Ham's system but would struggle in Man City's. Dele Ali is a confidence player, when things are going good, he plays well, when they aren't, he isn't the player to galvanise the team and pick things up.

I remember in the 16/17 season, Dele scored 18 goals and got 9 assists in the Prem. The hype surrounding him at that point was unreal. He was linked to Real Madrid, his price tag was put at over 100M and pundits couldn’t stop comparing him to Frank Lampard lol. People generally saw Dele as the future of England’s midfield…now he’s a squad player for an Everton side in a relegation battle. What a waste of potential. It’s really sad seeing a player fall off so dramatically
@joshuawine5123

I think he suffered a lot from squad dynamics, besides effort issues and whatnot. He was best friends with Sonny and Dier a few years back but Dier seems to have grown up a lot and become a leader without as much time to mess around, and Sonny has found new guys like Bale and Lucas to spend a lot of time with. These guys are human too and if Dele feels less comfortable in the locker room it’ll affect his performances

Bullshit, Neymar, Di Maria, Sancho and Pogba have a similar style, they use a lot of skills, with a lot of touch but they are succesful ... Messi, Bernardo Silva, Verrati, Isco ect also use a lot of touches. Dele ali is just not motivated, he isnt 100% focus when he play, because he has a clear natural talent, just like Dembele or Martial, they are very talented but in every sports if you aren’t mentally strong and focus you can’t be good, thats what separate Mbappe, Halaand, Benzema, Sancho from Dembele, Jesus, Ben Arfa and dele ali, dedication, motivation, determination, work ethic.

You can watch highlights of his genius like this and think why in the world is he ever left out of the team? I'll tell you why. For every moment of trickery and genius we see here there are at least 5 other attempts he tries that do not come off. We then lose the ball and become compromised as a team. And he's not exactly the type to chase back and make amends. I'm an avid Spurs supporter saying this and I've seen this with him through the years. It's a love/hate thing with him.

"Dele Alli Had The Craziest Potential What the Hell Happened ?!" He was forced to play deeper and deeper - there's a good article on this out there that deep dives into his stats - because only WInks and Sissoko existed at central midfield, and he dropped off entirely in form and it was downhill from there. Finally when he started to recover it under Mou and looking good in that period it became toxic so he fell off again. Also add a sprinkle of being a bit lazy and rising too fast too soon but the talent is still there.

I see a lot of posts saying he's too lazy etc. While it's not Mou's fault directly, as he has had him the least amount of time at Spurs; it is the fault of the club to endulge the attitude. That said, as a Liverpool fan, IF Gini goes, I would happily take Dele at Liverpool. My understanding is, he is a boyhood Liverpool fan, would have joined us if we had agreed to pay the same to Dons as Spurs, and I think Klopp could get the best out of him again. Dele has so much potential, with his combo of physical and technical ability, it will be a shame if that goes to waste.
