After the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, now the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has accelerated the work towards the construction of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway. After the first phase, the six-lane expressway between Eastern Peripheral to Dehradun has got financial approval from the Ministry of Roads and Transport.
The journey from Delhi to Dehradun will become easier in the coming times. An elevated expressway will be built between the two cities via Saharanpur and Baghpat. After its formation, the distance between the two cities will be able to be covered in just two and a half hours. It currently takes six to seven hours.
This expressway will be built separately from the existing four-lane highway, in the first phase of which a tender of about 34 km from Akshardham to Eastern Peripheral Expressway to Baghpat (Toll) has been sought till September 30, after which the construction work after opening. will begin.
The land procurement process will soon begin at a rapid pace over the subsequent phases. After that tenders will be invited for the construction. Once this expressway is ready, the distance from Ghaziabad and Delhi to Dehradun can be covered in just two and a half hours, which now takes five to seven hours to fix.
In the first phase, about 32 km of expressway from Akshardham to Eastern Toll is to be built. Of this, 17 km is elevated. All technical work has been done for the first phase. Now the tender process is just in the pipeline.
