About ten years ago I bought a small amount of walnut from Goby. They treated me as well if I were buying a $10,000 slab. The guy on the phone was super nice and sent me some premium walnut for some table legs. Great guys👍

Yes 30k is a lot but ppl just dont get what actual furniture making means lol If you really spent 8k on epoxy and a few k for the wood, legs, transport and whatever else mats youre already at half of that, add labor insurance etc and its not this much profit. Some think you made like 25k profit directly into your pockets xD But anyways its an amazing table^^

Growth rings vary in size because trees have to grow a thicker layer of bark/wood for the winters. So every other growth ring is a little bigger😊

Have you guys ever looked up some of the one-man sawmills for lumber? One in particular in the Midwest comes to mind, his channel is called Out of the Woods. He does Walnut, Box Elder, and several other species. Maybe you've already heard of him. Love your work!

hey do clients ever ask for a detailed break down of your costs for a project? reason I ask is we also make custom furniture, and we quote clients and they either agree or not, and first time we have a client asking to detail to them how we got to our price point, which seems a bit odd to be honest

question about your tables: if you would run your finger from the wood to the epoxy, do you feel a bump or anything like that when you transition between the materials ? and does the wood feel like actual wood with pores or whatever, thanks a bunch! :)

Not a bump, but you can feel the difference in textures between the wood and the epoxy! And yes the wood feels like actual wood, we plane down our tables back to the wood so you still have that nice feeling of the actual wood 😊

AngelousSpike it’s a board room table, so it’s a company investment to please the guys overseeing the company. Probably a lot of investors will be sitting at that table too. 30k is not that expensive for a table like that. I have a small business with 10 employees and we have a 5k conference table - scale that up and you easily can see that 30k might be reasonable for something that special.

AngelousSpike 30k for a car in a city with public transport is not reasonable to. I drive a car that cost less than the conference table in my company. Others pay 100k for a car to have something special. Companies pay much more than that for representing themselves, from business cards to signs and web pages. So what’s reasonable and what‘s not reasonable depends on the amount of money you have. In this instance the money goes to a small local shop doing lots of manual labor with local employees and so supporting the local economy. I think it’s very reasonable for a company to do that, if the money is there.

Yes, the slab and epoxy are expensive but they're not in the ballpark of $30,000 and you shouldn't be trying to add that much of a labor charge to each job.

You guys make me so pissed off that I live in north west Wales!!! The trees that we have in the UK are NO WHERE NEAR the size of what you have available to you!!! :-( That Elm you briefly showed ... inch thick growth rings !?! WT...? Europe has been plagued by Dutch Elm Disease since the 70's and I saw a promising article on it only 2 days ago!! 95% of the UK's Elm trees were wiped out!!! Hopefully we'll be getting some resistant seedlings in the next 5 years or so - but have to wait a further 50 years :-( before they can be used!!! My parents place of 7 acres has had some fallen trees - there's an oak that I'm hoping to use ... with resin of course! lol - but that's not going to be until next year!! :-( Anyway - I'm totally gutted that you guys have the ability of working with much larger examples of what Mother Nature is capable of producing ... in comparison - we've only got twigs and branches to work with :-( Keep up the vids - they're depressingly inspiring! :-)

Why do you seem to be so focused on the cost of the tables you make? Is the cost the important part or the design and aesthetics? If the delivered cost is the important part, you should start mixing ounces of gold dust into the next epoxy pour as that will be an easy way to increase the cost....

The slab looks to be at least 2 inches, I'm not sure the length, I could see that slab being easy couple Grand alone, legs (unsure if they're custom to the job) forms to pour the table. He might be making a girthy profit, idk. If the company paid for their lodging and travel to deliver... Could be a lot more at play that it took to create the table. Wood is definitely big bucks though for sure.
