It’s important as an instructor to adapt to student needs. Even in an introductory course, some people need more time on some topics. In this candid clip, Will is slowing down the pace of the class to go back over a foot work fundamental that was previously covered. He’s giving more context, and a bit more detail to help some students that asked the question.
He’s not teaching people to run into the room, this drill he is talking about is not in the context of any certain type of clearance, it is simply the fundamentals of how to get through the door efficiently without bumping into the door frame, without over penetrating, and prepping your body for the angles you should be working. This same movement applies to entry after a delivery/threshold evaluation, or on a dynamic entry. This video does not contain footwork for a buttonhook, just a very simple path of least resistance movement.
We pride ourselves on teaching with adaptability, using the adult learning model. We run gentleman’s courses, people are treated professionally and we take our time to ensure that students understand concepts and get good repetitions. If you are interested in learning more, come to class! We hold open enrollment courses all over the US.
