This is actually sick. I'm pretty sure that a Dell Dimension with Windows XP was the first computer I ever got to use, having a build like this would be awesome.

At some point in my life I owned a Dell just like this but it was a Dimension 1100 I believe. I didn't know how to build pc's at the time so I left it stock. It had a Pentium 4 and I actually put Mac OS X onto it lol that was fun. Great to see someone turn this machine into a beast, I didn't even know you could fit a regular motherboard into these cases. I am self taught. Good job Josh you did a great job don't listen to the negative comments k.

This is epic. I built one in an old Optiplex GX280 case with a core 2 quad board I had lying around just for the heck of it. I had to trace the wires for the power switch and lights down the ribbon cable and rewire it. All in all though I had a working sleeper clamshell Dell computer which was wicked.

The front panel stock motherboard cables for the power button, power LED, reset switch, etc. are what I'm having an issue with for doing this kind of sleeper build with Ryzen. What's the name of the cable you bought on Amazon for $5?
I have a ryzen 5 1600 in a dimension 2400 also I have mounted a noctua 120mm fan in the front and a 92mm noctua in the back and temps are good I think you should have left the side panel alone and not have cut it thought it kinda ruins the point of a sleeper but anyways I wonder what you did exactly with the power button? I need to order one as mine is lost anyways so what do I need to order? As whenever I have to turn pc off or power flashes I have to take it apart and use a screwdriver. Which gets old quick especially with a bent side panel that is a pain. It sat on the floor for a day or two while I built my pc and I stepped on it a few times :( but all in all nice build man!

Just a constructive critique. i don't think you needed to put a window panel on the side panel for this build. To me converting this Dell Dimension to a secretly powerful system is the epitome of a sleeper gaming system, and adding that window and RGB lights kinda conflicts with what you really wanted to do. Did you want a gaming PC with a window or a sleeper PC? You really cannot have both, and to me having both wasn't aesthetically pleasing. Would've just made sense to go with a gaming tower if gaming pc was the goal. in regards to the front intake, if you are somehow able to install it in an angle that points to the CPU, and use a static pressure optimized fan installed with intake dust filter that would greatly improve your temps if you just went with a sleeper PC.

Also looks not as good with the window because of the rough edges of the metal. And yes, the idea of a "sleeper" pc is that is suppouse to be sorta of a "stealth gaming rig" something you wouldnt suspect can run modern games till you turn it on.

It's a good build, and a good repurpose job with the case. But the window in the side panel kind of defeats the purpose of a "sleeper" PC. Someone can clearly see it's modded, and thus not really any "hidden" power. If that makes any sense.
