Thanks for reviewing the Latitude 9430. I have been using it for about a month, and i have to agree with you that, to me, this is the best Windows laptop i have ever used. Beats the Thinkpad X1 i used previously. Incidentally, i also have a personal M1 MacBook Air to compare against the Latitude 9430 (corporate laptop). This is my impression, Build quality both MacBook Air and Latitude 9430 are equally good. In fact i think the Dell feels more solid and hefty. Display wise, i would say the 2560x1600 resolution 2in1 display look better than the MacBook Air's similar resolution. Sound -- i am really surprised by the speakers of this Dell. Finally a windows laptop that comes with speakers that matches any MacBook. Keyboard - i still prefer the MacBook keyboard. .. in fact Thinkpad X1 keyboard is my favourite. Than comes the MacBook Air, and finally the Latitude 9430. Having said that, i think the 9430 keyboard is still very good. It's just my personal preference. Webcam - 9430 camera is really good. Surprisingly better than the M1 MacBook Air. But i think the M2 MacBook Air's webcam will be the same if not better than 9430. On board microphone - Very good, but i think MacBooks have slightly better mics for Zoom/Teams call. Battery life - no one can beat the M1/M2 MacBooks. For windows laptop though, i would say its battery life is good. Could get me through more than half a day's work without having to plug in. Much better than my previous Thinkpad. Weight -- MacBook Air is lighter. Performance - i don't game on both laptops, so, for normal business usage both are more than adequate. Overall -- i think finally we have an equivalent window laptop that matches well against MacBooks.

Dell always been a favorite brand of mine (aside from Lenovo & HP). Back when I first started out to work at an office, my first laptop was dell well 2gb ram (yes you read it right, 2gb ram) in 2015 (even my personal laptop at that time was already had 4gb of ram). It was really slow to use but durable as heck and one of the best keyboard I've typed on. It lasted me another 3 good years before it broke down (it was purchased like in 2010).

Thumbs up AMD! Another great review. This one seems to be a great device; lightwieght, well built, 2 in 1, with a great selection of ports!

Well the Dell Latitude 7420 and 7430 had 1080p web cameras. HP EliteBook makers keep coming up with excuses to improve from 720p web cameras. Even there HP EliteBook 840 G9 still doesn't have 1080p web cameras.

Hi Andrew! Thank you so much for this informative review! I really enjoyed it. It is nice to see the 12th gen U15 series running at full throttle while at the same time having good stamina. I wonder whether you'd be interested in reviewing its smaller sibling, the Latitude 9330. No independent review of it has come out yet, which surprises me a little, as it is a brand new model of the Latitude family. I think that the 13-inch form factor is more suitable for a convertible in terms of weight and footprint. Also people might wanna see how a U9 processor fairs. Best wishes to you)

Thank you, Andrew, for another great review. Many more pluses than minuses on this laptop. I would like to see another fan, but there just isn't enough room for it. Hopefully by 2024, when I will be looking to replace my Lenovo, the chip shortage and the supply chain issues will be worked out. Take care, and my best to you and your family.

Great review. I have been using this as my field laptop for work and I have definately been impressed. Love the keyboard, touchpad and good selection of ports, solid nice build and reasonable power. There are a few little annoyances though. I hate the sharp edges they really do cut in after a while and I wished they had rounded them off a little or put a carbon fibre wrist rest like they did on the XPS's. The other minor point that is frustrating is some of the key placements i.e. the power button where the delete usually is (at least for me from my previous laptops) and the small up/down arrows. Anyway just some thoughts since you asked.

This is a great laptop, just would like to see two things: PCI Gen 4 SSD support, and more cooling. It does well but with another fan it could run close to silent IMO. Third bonus would be carbon fiber to cut down some weight.

Great review but for the price it is, it's defintly a kind of laptop that says, I want you to do your job and nothing else. Which what some corporations love to do. The streaming quality and the sound is great. Nice for meetings to give a good impression to any people your taking to.

Hey Andrew, nice review as always. However, I have to ask, do your testing values change over time? I wanted to compare this laptop to the Thinkpad Z13 based on your previous review, and the Cinebench scores from the same laptops are different. For example, in the Z13 review, it shows a Cinebench R23 Multi-core score of 9,402. However, in this review, the Z13 shows a multi-core score of only 7,305. Is there a reason for this?

I wonder how it compares with the precision 5470 workstation you reviewed earlier? Same 14" 2560x1600 screen but difference in coating? Looking for a business laptop with long battery life so the 9430 looks to be the clear winner, but I wonder if you can put the precision in power save mode to also get 10h "real world usage" out of it (since it has a larger 72Wh battery). Can't seem to make my pick between those 2 devices. Like the hdmi and usb A port on the 9430 though, will come in handy in many occasions. Both same price when I spec them to my liking.

Very nice PC. Camera is very good and so is the sound. Even though ram not upgradeable 16 gig of ram will meet most users needs. Wifi card will be very fast and the need to upgrade in the future will not really ever be needed. So having this soldered in will never really be a problem. Comparing this to the XPS line, port selection is far better and one will not really ever need to use those silly dongles. Camera is better than the one in the XPS. Upgradeability of the ssd comparable to the 9320 but puts the XPS 9315 to shame. If the system board ever goes bad in the 9315 all data is gone. Granted this is pricey but one is buying overall better design than the XPS line. For the price of this one thing they should have done is include the pen and also the cover sleave like the HP Spectre does. Great review.
