Thank you! I replaced the board, unknowingly didn't place one of the connectors back correctly, could deduct from your video which is probably was. Fixed the problem!

This is the first video I've come across for this problem. Glad to see I can go check it out to see if the flow meter is causing this error on my machine. Thanks!

What's the part number?

if you google "DIGMESA FHKSC" you get several hits though none of them are cheap. And, I'm not sure they are exact replacements but I suspect they'll work. There is also a (Russian?) video on youtube where a guy fixes his flow meter rather than replacing it - pretty cool.

I had the same alert from the machine, along with no water supply for the front part, finally I moved the grinder level, turned this off, turned this on and then worked. I was almost to open the machine up and start to work on this, looking for information found this video would be so helpful in case I had to continue with the trouble shooting.

I ran into this error again last week. I had recently descaled using a powder and it turns out the powder didn't entirely dissolve so it clogged several ports in the machine. I hope to make a short video on it in case others see the same problem.

I'm tempted to ask the obvious question - why does the machine display "Ground too fine adjust mill" instead of "flow switch fault" since they are completely different and unrelated? That aside this video was very useful to me and fixed my problem. Nothing wrong with the switch, it was disturbed wiring following a generator replacement but it gave me enough clues to know where to look. Now fixed and working - thanks.

My guess is that the firmware writer was trying to be helpful by providing a diagnosis instead of simply naming the fault. Like you point out, they could have stated "water flow too low" but they jumped to what they thought might be a simple, common cause - grinding coffee too fine. If the grind is too fine, the coffee packs so tight that the pump can't push water through it so (voila!) low water flow! However, I've only gotten this message when either the flow meter or the pump was bad, never due to fine coffee grounds!

Hi. I changed it, worked fine for a very short time and I getting same error again, cleaning, descaling but after maybe one or two coffees and same error again, thanks?

To my knowledge, you can get this error from 4 causes: 1) a bad flow meter, 2) a clogged water line, 3) a clogged generator, 4) a bad pump. I think replacing the flow meter is the easiest. Testing the other components gets a bit more involved but is doable. For example, to test the pump and first water line, I disconnect the water line coming out of the pump (at the far end) and then apply power (manually) to the pump. The pump should push quite a bit of water through the line. The pump uses 110VAC (in the US) so to do this, you have to be skilled/comfortable working with mains power. Otherwise, this isn't very safe. :)

My Delonghi did not require removing the bottom panel. The flow meter simply lifts out.

This is great, thank you. My problem is that I only get the error when I try to dispense hot water or descale the machine. It works for Espressos. Do you think changing the flow meter will resolve the problem?

Hmm. The water path out the front of the machine for descaling includes a couple solenoid valves. If one of those valves were blocked for some reason, you might get this error only then. One thing you might confirm is that you can hear both solenoids energize. You can do that using the diagnostic mode. Check out my video on the diagnostic mode (below) and see if you can clearly hear each solenoid (i.e. EV1 and EV2). If you can't hear one of them, it might have gone bad. I bet I've replaced a solenoid on my two machines at least 2-3 times so they do go bad eventually. @@ravraid Thank you for this amazing info. I entered the diagnostics mode and when I check the solenoids I can't hear anything from EV1. Could this be the cause of my problems?

@@retroerks9963 Yes, if you don’t hear the solenoid the front water port will not work. I don’t have good access right now but I think I made a video on replacing at least one of the solenoids or maybe someone else did. It isn’t too hard but you’ll need the right solenoid. I think ereplacementparts.com carries them.

@@retroerks9963 The video below shows how I accessed one of the solenoid valves - I don’t know if it is EV1 or EV2. It is the one behind the horseshoe boiler. The other valve is at the front but I don’t think I made a video for it. kzitem.info/news/bejne/rJWd1Kx6f5d5mW0

I got a replacement from MPJA.com but they no longer stock it. I see that places like eReplacementParts.com stock them (or something very similar). If you google "delonghi perfecta replacement part flowmeter" you'll get lots of hits.
