The officer who filmed him on the curb got suspended. I think he did the right thing. If Delonte sees that video maybe it will inspire him to get help. What do y’all think? ✌🏼

Agreed, if it wasn’t filmed nobody would be talking about it to the scale they are now. It’s good he got this out there. A year before my marriage ended, my ex-wife cut off all communication with me. We sat on the opposite ends of the coach and she texted her "friend" from college. I pushed for counseling and was met with pushback. I reached out to mutual friends and family and no one would intervene...no one. Things didn't get better, I step out of my marriage and had an emotional affair with a co worker. When all those that loved me and loved us and wanted to help us but didn't want to intervene in our marriage found out, they chose sides. Didn't give a shot about how I felt, my ex-wife was the victim of my debauchery. Today, I two really good friend that I fuck with, my sons and my mother. Period. Those friends have gotten out of their feelings as events have transpired and they now she my ex wife of the P.O.S. she has always been. They have tried to mend broken fences with me, but I am not interested, not at all. At the end of the day, I would much rather share crumbs with bums than eat steaks with snakes.

oh man, that's a very timely video. I think in Delonte's situation, someone close to him or a good friend who cares, actually needs to take him by force to the rehabilitation clinic. This is what happened when Steve-O locked up in his apartment all drugged up and suicidal in the 2000s and was about to do some crazy stunt by jumping with a motorbike from the 7h floor but luckily his good friend Johny Knoxville came with some men and took him by force, and thank God, Steve-O is doing well today and is happy with his life, not drinking again or using drugs. So, you just can't wait for Delonte to decide to seek help because he can't comprehend anymore what's happening around him, and he's at a high risk of dying.

"Offered help and rejected it" Due the de-institutionalization of mental health facilities in the 70s one cannot just be thrown into a facility for rehabilitation without their consent anymore. Obviously he is unaware he has mental and possibly drug problems and will reject any help further worsening his situation. Now this practice is a double edged sword , there are many stories of patients being taken advantage of and abused resulting in de-institutionalization to begin with. I hope for the best bust just how the system is Im not entirely sure he will actually receive the help he needs to be fully rehabilitated.

Well it's overall far worse if they ever did even in part re-institutionalize it. No one should ever be forced against their wills to receive treatments or help unless they explicitly request it. Is it sad to know and see so many out there with clear mental illness who refuse to believe it or even notice it themselves? Absolutely. But it's true for every single person - The only way a person can be helped is if the person themselves truly wants it and reaches out for it. Otherwise anyone who even tries is wasting endless time helping someone who cannot be helped because they refuse help.

Both of you are stupid. Obviously there are multiple reasons he could be in handcuffs and context is missing from the video. He could have been combative with the cops, considering he is suffering from severe mental illness, and he just got done fighting someone. For all we know he was the one that started the fight with the guy on camera and continued being combative when the cops arrived. Don’t talk trash when you don’t understand the FULL story. Also when someone is suffering from severe mental illness and they happen to say they are depressed or want to hurt themselves or others they are put in handcuffs for THEIR OWN safety and safety of others around.

Jesus Restores a Demon-Possessed Man From the gospel of Mark: 5 They went across the lake to the region of the Gerasenes.[a] 2 When Jesus got out of the boat, a man with an impure spirit came from the tombs to meet him. 3 This man lived in the tombs, and no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain. 4 For he had often been chained hand and foot, but he tore the chains apart and broke the irons on his feet. No one was strong enough to subdue him. 5 Night and day among the tombs and in the hills he would cry out and cut himself with stones. 6 When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him. 7 He shouted at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? In God’s name don’t torture me!” 8 For Jesus had said to him, “Come out of this man, you impure spirit!” 9 Then Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” “My name is Legion,” he replied, “for we are many.” 10 And he begged Jesus again and again not to send them out of the area. 11 A large herd of pigs was feeding on the nearby hillside. 12 The demons begged Jesus, “Send us among the pigs; allow us to go into them.” 13 He gave them permission, and the impure spirits came out and went into the pigs. The herd, about two thousand in number, rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned. 14 Those tending the pigs ran off and reported this in the town and countryside, and the people went out to see what had happened. 15 When they came to Jesus, they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons, sitting there, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid. 16 Those who had seen it told the people what had happened to the demon-possessed man-and told about the pigs as well. 17 Then the people began to plead with Jesus to leave their region. 18 As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged to go with him. 19 Jesus did not let him, but said, “Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” 20 So the man went away and began to tell in the Decapolis[b] how much Jesus had done for him. And all the people were amazed.

I HATE basketball. I'm a college football-loving southerner. But this is gut-wrenching. My poor decisions in managing my Bipolar I and BPD meant the loss of my home with my wife and young son and resulted in my being a felon. These diseases will chew you up and spit you out. They don't care about your station in life, race, religion, or background. Be responsible. Get on your meds, stay on them, and keep seeing your counsellor. My heart goes out to him. That first step is a treacherous one.

dude had a hard life. his dad was apparently abusive and used to beat him as a child. he grew up in poverty and was given millions in his career. this story is like Mike Tyson's but worse. I pray he finds peace with himself and gets the help he needs. mental health is hard on people in this generation but I couldn't imagine what toll it takes on proffesional atheletes. travelling all the time, pushing their bodies to the limits and sacrificing time with family and friends. its nice seeing players like demar derozan and kevin love be open about their mental health. it should encourage other players to be open about their mental health too.

What I learned about people whose bipolar, many of them reject the meds because they love the manic feeling, they feel super human. Where so the meds balance them. They’re so use to feeling this manic high that make them feel like they can do anything, they don’t want to settle for being a normal being.
