Short vid demonstrating the fearsome power of this monster 120x76mm counter-rotating fan. The other fan is a Delta FFB1212EHE and weighs just over 400g.
Hey man, recently ive fallen in love with high rpm and high airflow fans. But i have a question, if i buy for example a supermicro 40mm 17000rpm or something like that can i just connect it to a motherboard fan header?

In principle you can connect any fan to a motherboard header, but fans with high power draw (I'd say anything over 1 amp) might damage the motherboard. I always connect powerful fans directly to the PSU for this reason, and I have a few custom made circuits that I use for speed control. :)

I got it from a parts reseller in Singapore/China called PC Hub. I think it took more than two months to arrive after I ordered it, and at one point it was lost. Not a fun experience!

Can I join 2pcs 6000rpm fan 120mm Together. How much will the air flow be and can it cool an antminer S9 faster

Hi I need you help... unknowingly I brought Delta THB1212B-A which is 120mm 12V 3A fan.. I thought I can run this to cool my pc cabinet.. however the 4 pins are different from the one provided on my motherboard

Don't connect that fan to your motherboard - it is much too powerful. Delta fans are meant for servers and mainframes.

@@komekko373 man! dont do it! you will burn your motherboard because these fans absorb very high ampere. its like you shortcut your motherboard. Just buy a separate power supply for these fans.

Apparently this thing is rated for 8.2A, jesus. Looks like all the Delta 120mm counter-rotating models are quite old now, I guess Delta abandoned that concept to focus on single-rotor fans, I'm guessing due to reliability or power issues.
@FanPhys

I measured the current at full speed, and it was around 6 amps. Not sure why Delta don't make them any more... perhaps because the application is highly specialised and there isn't as much demand. As I understand it, counter-rotating fans don't corkscrew the airflow as much as a single fan. As for reliability, these things will function for years at full speed. The plastic has fiberglass in it. :)

@@FanPhys Wrt reliability, I was mostly meaning that 2 motors would always be less reliable than one, but maybe it doesn't matter.

@@ydihtty Ah ok I get you! They are rated for 70,000 hours and will likely last a lot longer. If I get time I might make a video showing the internals as I have dismantled the fan before. Cheers!

Well based on these specs it is rated to draw 98,4Watts of power. This thing at max speed draws more than some modern PCs which are idle. That is fucking insane. I'm really interested in how much noise this thing makes. Well it sounds like a plane but how much in case of loudness it is close to the plane :D
@FanPhys

@@likilike501 Because there are two fans going at the same time, it is extremely loud. Even if I leave the room and close the door, I can hear it very clearly. :)
