Been rebuilding those since they used the long skirted seats and long springs. Probably in the thousands! LoL. Love Delta faucets. They're built like a tank, will last many MANY years. Only faucet I'll own. And I agree, best to use OEM parts, yes. Good to see you're still around!

Great vid! Gearing up to rebuild / repair faucet which needs "jiggling" to a certain position to not drip. (Actually, it's heavier; more of a small stream.) Wasn't sure mine (very old) is a Delta, but looks exactly like this. So this is mucho helpful! Side question: Do the seats (of Seats & Springs) have a shelf life in storage? I have a couple that's been sitting around the garage for decades. Do they get brittle (like rubber bands do over time), or otherwise less functional? They don't cost much, but if they're still good, might as well use em, right?

Hey Bob.. I called a reputable plumbing company to change the switch that makes the water run in the tub faucet to the showerhead. They removed the old rotted part out, but they stated they tried to put in the new part put they were having problem, so the had to put in a access panel behind the wall...luckily I have a tall dresser that does cover the access panel they put in, they did frame out the panel and it looks fine...They also re-corked the bathtub. The corking and the part they replaced were both 22 years old..They were there from 11am till 3:30pm because they has to get the proper plug part for the tub at home depot..2 questions BOB...did you ever hear of a plumber having to put in an access panel and 2..they charged me a total of $302....was that fair? I live in Pennsylvania. they are a big name plumbing company. BTW, it is not a switch they put in now...the stopper you push down to plug the tub and press to release and the stopper pops up.

@@BobsPlumbingVideos over $1000 to cut a piece of wall out to fix the tub...OMG..I did do good.. TY Bob for answering. They also told me that it will be a lot easier now to do any plumbing because the access panel is.now in place...they framed it out and it looks really good.

Btw, if you call Delta, they will send you the part, but you'll have to send them a picture of your faucet unless you know the model number. Although then it will take 8-10 days to arrive. I live right around the corner from an HD, so I could have been there and back in less time than it took to make that phone call.

Bob, did you grind the teeth off of your Channellocks or can you buy them like that? The angled tool with sharp points on either end is a Machinist's scribe. I bought & installed a new Delta single-lever kitchen faucet a couple of years ago, but don't remember the cam washer you showed. When I try to set the lever to give a partial flow, it often "droops" down & turns the water off by itself and I'm afraid to tighten the nut any further. I bought the faucet at a big box store, so I'm wondering whether I'm suffering from "operator error" during installation or if the big box store sold either a kit with missing parts or a counterfeit Delta faucet. Any ideas what could cause the lever to not stay where it's placed?
@BobsPlumbingVideos
2 жыл бұрын
You can buy the channel lock pliers without teeth. When you say Lever are you referring t to the faucet handle? It you don’t get the slot in the ball to line up with the guide inside the faucet that could affect the operation. Or possibly a crimped water supply line?
@bobvines00
2 жыл бұрын
@@BobsPlumbingVideos Oops. Yes, I meant the faucet handle. I'll take it apart to verify that the slot in the ball is lined up with the guide pin. I'll also inspect what I can see of the water supply line. Thanks!

How old is this faucet? On extremely old units the spout "O" rings get so dried out the spout gets stuck. You could try heating it up with a hair dryer or heat gun while rotating the spout left to right and pulling up.

Okay after having watched this even though I don't currently have a Delta that was extremely detailed and I know I could refurbish a Delta should I get one in the future which is quite likely thank you again Bob very very detailed and helpful. And actually I do have a question about the diverter. On my current faucet which I rebuilt it doesn't seem like the diverter is seated properly to have the proper balance between the sprayer and the faucet also it's in the back between the faucet and the wall. Which makes it kind of difficult is there something I'm doing wrong that is not allowing the diverter to work properly? I mean it seems like you pushed it in a little but yet when you replace the handle it doesn't seem like you could have done anything differently like is it supposed to be pushed in more or less in order to control how much water goes between the sprayer and the faucet? I hope that question was clear Bob

Best detailed video Bob. I have repaired my 370 faucet leak once before like this and it has been great for couple of years. But recently it started making a thud sound (in the faucet) when the water got hot and would stop serving hot water. This went on for a couple months until I tried just tightening the white upper nylon ring a bit. Since this it does not serve any flow from the hot side. Today I replaced the washers and springs with a kit from HD. I couldn't buy a repl ball in store or in town. No leaks. But still no hot water flow? Any ideas? I don't see any other part that would block just the hot flow. No where can Google find any reference or solution to my problem.
@BobsPlumbingVideos

Sounds like you may have to remove the hot water supply line feeding the faucet and check for blockages and or the hot water supply valve to see if it's compromised.

Thank you Bob for making this video and the great instruciton. Is the slick and slide the same as plumber grease and can I buy that at hardware store. Can I just use an 1/8" allen wrench instead of that special tool? I just had this faucet put in 2020 by a plumber who also provided this faucet as I told him that was model I wanted. Was surprised that was leaking in 2 years. Delta customer service said it depends on usage. We do dishes by hand, no automatic dishwasher so does get used a lot. Also have a water softener, and tec said that can contribute due to the salt product wearing on the faucet parts. Update: I ordered from Amazon the item you recommended.
@BobsPlumbingVideos
2 жыл бұрын
Any silicone plumbers grease will work, Slick & slide is just the name brand I purchase from my plumbing supply. I would imagine in har water areas you would have to service the faucet more often. Here in NYC the water is not hard and we have no need for water softeners.

Not in my experience, you can pull the stems apart and lubricate them with a good quality waterproof silicone grease and you'll be good to go. Also make sure you're using the correct springs, two versions a. coned shaped and b. longer straight versions. They're not interchangeable.

Check both hot and cold water supply tubes for possible blockages. Sometimes old pieces of the rubber seats fall thru. Remove all the parts, put a cup over the top of the faucet and blow out the lines by turning on the hot and cold water one at a time.

Hard to do if you're not familiar Delta's line of faucets. I've been doing residential service since 1978 and seen the evolution of the delta single lever faucets from early on. Occupational hazard I guess!. You can take a photo of your model and send it to Delta's customer support and they'll identify it for you.
