Today we're gonna be taking a look at someone who decided to make a video about a new fake disorder called time blindness Twitter: / xenoshot Twitch: / xenoshots
It appalls me how all those people flash around their 'self diagnosed' conditions, demanding accommodations and what not, when people with actual mental or physical condition go through a MONUMENTAL amount of work to fit in, to feel and act average and 'normal'. People with real disorder work extra hard to overcome their issues and avoid to be seen by their disabilities, exposing themselves on social media is THE LAST THING in their mind when it comes to solve their problems. You know someone has actually a condition when they try to educate not only others without disabilities, but also speak to their own community about how they can work things through, how to also improve themselves and where to get support, those are the ones that complain very little and actually put things to work, because you know what? yes, places and people should be understanding and help out others where they can, but the world can't cater to EVERY disability and sometimes you have to suck it up and figure it out yourself.

As someone who’s autistic, you’ve hit the nail on the head. This is exactly how I feel with my job, I overwork myself to the point where I feel physically ill because I just want to be seen as being normal and capable like everybody else. Everything you said is so true.

@@entjuicebox541 Right? Everyone with a condition would do ANYTHING to be like everyone else, to not have to do the extra steps and pretend nothing is going on. I hate that so many disabilities are becoming trendy and exploited - let alone used to justify bad behavior or crimes. As closing notes, you are doing great! I know it's tough, but I'm sure people look up to you knowing you are doing your best. Just don't overwork it, give yourself a break sometimes: some of us get handed bad cards, but we all deserve to play and have fun =)

Uuuhhhh, YEAH! OF COURSE it applies to when she finishes work, that’s why after showing up 2 hours late she then leaves 3 hours early! Jeez, you don’t understand anything, THAT’S what’s wrong w/America now, our lack of understanding & sympathy for the absolutely preposterous! It’s flabbergasting! No, obviously I’m saying all this in jest, but what I want to know is does this “time blindness” apply to her paying bills(as if she pays any, extremely obvious mommy & daddy completely take care of their wittle baby financially 100%, that’s what has caused this crap in a large part.)? I mean, she not only expects a job to allow her to show up & leave whenever she wants, er, is blinded by wtf time it is, but I’m guessing she thinks it she’s 3 months behind on her car note they shouldn’t repossess, her house note they shouldn’t foreclose, her electricity bill they shouldn’t disconnect, etc?! My last issue is of her videos’ editing themselves. It’s obvious that she rambles nonsense for hours & then edits to make her look educated, by the stop-go of her videos. She still screwed up in the follow-up video, though, because @ 1st her alien earrings are facing forward, as she wants them to be, but then end up backwards because she forgot to fix them each time she edited. I’ll give her this, she is definitely outta this world!

When confronted by her boss she told him that 5 minutes will never mean anything to her. She couldn't make it working at a grocery store w that attitude today. She gets mad at me when she calls me 20 minutes before I have to be at work and I tell her I don't have time to talk bc I have to get to work. Drug dealers are the only profession that let's you get away w that shit. I try to explain to her that being late for your job means other people have to stay late or pick up slack until you get there. It drives me crazy. Past generations got away w being late. Not today. I've been working with high level autism and ADHD, I do have trouble with time, but it just means that I get places a lot earlier than needed (eg. It led to me having a reputation for being extremely punctual, literally never a minute late (also being early usually bad so you have to learn to work off to the side til your needed). @KatDeVil69 I've got it down to about trying to get there 15-30 mins early. Google maps is very helpful but not realistic. Just remember you don't just appear at your destination... ie. if you're driving there its not just getting to your destination on the pin, there's getting in your car, finding parking, walking from the car to the location, elevators, being lost, theres change in traffic, theres if this js the first time going there your going to be a lot slower. This is where most people get late. If something is 15 minutes it's usually double that. And then there is when you get there make sure you have something to do. Whether it is emails, updating todo lists or just reading a book related to what your doing... even taking a few minutes to breathe and relax is important. Many times that 15 minutes early gets dwindled down to just barely making it in time. But regardless I still don't book anything next to appointments within one hour of each other if I can help it.. being in thehe same office is different as it's usually out of your control, but that is when you have to intrupt meetings and say, sorry I have another meeting, I have to go. But always if you see your self even being a minute late, text or call saying that your going to be late and never lie saying your on your way when your not.

I've waited tables for 23 years, and jobs like that, as well as other customer service type jobs depend considerably on everyone scheduled showing up on time and as scheduled. If they don't, then it puts excessive strain on the workers that showed up on time, or at all, if an unexpected rush hits earlier than normal, what does happen. It also cuts severely down the quality of customer service as well. I've lost a couple jobs myself do to late attendance issues, and, ultimately, my fault. Of course, I found out that I had been living for years with undiagnosed PTSD, severe anxiety, and depression. I consider the job losses still my fault, because of my not wanting to go see a doctor during all that time. If I had gone, I might have been able to get treatment that would have enabled me to get to work on time, instead of waiting until things have gotten too out of hand. However, this time blindness thing sounds like a manufactured 'disorder" so people can have once again an excuse to shirk their responsibilities. I have a bad case of ADHD. I've taken medication for it since I was very young. I still take it so I can get through work easier. Without it, I get distracted by everything, I don't want to work or do anything productive. I don't want to get out of bed, do chores. I talk to much, I have no filter etc. It sucks. It also causes me to dismiss my alarms when they go off. But you know what? I live with it. You have to in this world. Your boss needs you at a certain time. Am I supposed to do my electrical job at midnight? Am I supposed to go to the restaurant I work at on the weekends at 10pm when the restaurant is closed? Do I want to fuck over my coworkers because I have "time blindness" and show up several hours late? No, because being on time is part of being a goddamn adult. I set multiple alarms on my phone AND alarm clock before I'm supposed to wake up. I put my phone next to my alarm clock on my dresser, out of reach so I can't hit snooze a million times. I live with it. Sometimes it sure does suck, but theres these things called bills I need to pay so... It makes me upset that people out there like me don't even try. Ffs

There ARE accommodations for time blindness. Let me tell you about this as a mom of a diagnosed autistic son. The biggest one is called a WATCH, if you are unable to read the old style ones, there are accommodations like digital ones or even talking ones, you can set alarms, add texts to tell you what this alarm was for and so on. You can always add other Gadgets to the game, make visual charts, add apps with special functions and so on. When you are diagnosed with a disorder, it’s to 90% not time to ask the world to cater to you but to find an individual way for you to navigate the world as independent as possible, in the best case like everybody else. A diagnosis is not a cushion but a task!

"Time-blindness" isn't a disorder. It's a symptom that can come from other disorders. In my case, ADHD. I have "time-blindness" in the sense that keeping track of time is hard for me. That means under/over-estimating time it takes to do something, losing track of time easily, etc. And...it's my problem. Yeah, flexibility in workplaces, social settings, school, etc. is great. However, it's on me to recognize I have an issue and either change my behavior or just not do it. So while what she's saying is 100% a thing, her worldview is garbage and lacks accountability lol

Don't go after those of us with these actual conditions on a daily basis. Time blindness is absolutely a struggle in ADHD as well as PTSD. It can be managed with alarms, therapy (usually life skills to live in a society with these pretty rough struggles), and medications. We absolutely need to pull our heads out of our asses and dismantle the current working conditions. Not allowing anyone to do whatever they want or what you are suggesting we want, but working WITH people is what needs to happen. It feels like you as a creator are trying to make up for one extreme by jumping far away to the other extreme and it really lowers your credibility. Just as low as this girl's credibility is.

Yeah, no - that’s just keeping track of time using mechanisms. We all do it. I ran a law practice. Had notifications and alarms and post-its and anything else I needed to keep me on track time-wise. I even had a clerk who would call me if a client meeting was running too long and he needed my attention on a different file. If everyone does it, it’s not a thing. You don’t really think they programmed alarms in iPhones just for a tiny number of people with short attention spans, do you? Sorry.

OMG - this is hysterical! I’m late all the time and have never thought of using “time blindness” as an excuse. Honestly, I’m late because I’m a piss poor manager of time. Dr. Phil once said that being chronically late is a sign of arrogance. 🤔Hmmm, even though I’m an offender, he is probably quite right. When I’m late I’m not respecting others’ time. I do try to work on this all the time. I’m better but still need some work. But I sure don’t think to blame my bad habit on others. And your right, everyone today needs a disorder. My brother and I do jiggle our foot back and forth but we’ve dubbed this as the genetic jiggle. Not a disorder.🙄

With numbskulls like this, the best way to make them "see the light" (which, to be honest, may not be possible) is to turn the tables on them. Me: So, Entitled Elly (EE for short), the job is Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm> EE: Like, I have, you know, conditions where I might show up late, or might not show up on Fridays. You DO make accommodations, right? Me: Ooooookay...do you have any questions for me? EE: When do we get paid? Me: Great question. We normally have our checks deposited at 9:00 am on Fridays. EE: Like, what do you mean "normally"? Me: Well, our payroll person has a condition where they will occasionally show up late, or possibly not at all on Fridays. You DO make accommodations...right??? More than likely, we all know how Entitled Elly would answer that question.

Quite frankly, I am NOT surprised by this. A few years back, the University of Washington's Tacoma campus administration started circulating some "enlightened" wokity-woke-woke claptrap that expecting students to be on time to class was "racist". Ummm...WHAT?!?!?! There is an expectation that you're going to be on time. Whether your job is opening up a store, you're a doctor with appointments, or you're relieving the person who's been steering a ship for the last four to six hours, you're expected to be on time. (As a former sailor, you DO NOT want to make it a habit of being late relieving the watch; some of your things may be "donated" to Davy Jones' locker.) There is also an expectation that you're going to do things in a timely manner. Sure, you don't have to pay your property or income taxes on time, as long as you're willing to pay the interest rates and late fees. The same goes for loan payments and credit card payment, but don't be surprised if the lenders get to the point where they've had enough, and either close your card, or call the note sooner than was agreed.

4:05 true tho, you’ve gotta work around it wether you like it or not. Literally every job will require you to be on time and even if you’re a self employed person you’ll still have to struggle with deadlines. I mean there are medications, therapy and reasonable accommodations to help you out. Even if you’re diagnosed that just means you’ll be way more likely to be late to work, about three times out of five in my case; a way i countered this was to be extremely early and avoid all traffic by about 1 hour. If traffic started at 6:30 am or 7 that meant i had to be out and about by 6. A 20 minute drive can turn into 1 hour with traffic, with accidents on top atleast 2
