I like the Demko Magna cut version and SRK in CPM 3V is a pretty robust blade 🇺🇸 🇳🇿

I’ve already chosen and have said so repeatedly. I carry the SRK in CPM 3V.

3v is good, but it's pretty hard to argue against magnacut. Magnacut isn't going to be noticeably brittle compared to 3v. The whole purpose magnacut was produced was so it would be tough, rust resistant, and great at holding its edge. And magnacut is a lot more rust resistant than 3v. Spiderco is even using magnacut in their salt series.

+1 on the CPM 3V. Tough but not brittle. Easiest to maintain and gets razor sharp on a strop very easily.

Thanks. I like both but prefer the SRKC in the Japan steel (can't remember the name san mai?).

I would love to see a freereign in 3v. I have the aus 10 version as well as the 3v srk and like them both well enough. I also agree with you on the freereign grip being more secure.

How is the rubber handle on the aus10 ?

@@stefanlauster4877 it’s a softer type that is more spongy than the srk. Still nice and grippy. Feels like it might damage it hit through hard use. I still like it though.

In my opinion the M95 sissipuukko is probably the best competitor to the SRK. I like the design of the Freereign but I think there should be a 6 inch version and a version in 3V. Though considering this knife was intended to be a stainless steel knife Magnacut does make sense. If I could tweak the design, I would make it 6 inches long, Stock thickness in the 5/32 range, and if possible made in 3V.

I believe stone, bronze and iron knives are obsolete, although I wouldn’t mind owning a flint knife. I always chuckle when people talk about obsolescence when talking about knives, if it cuts it’s hardly obsolete, that’s exactly what knives are supposed to do. 🙄

The goofy huge faux jimping cuts on the Demko are a deal breaker for me, I also favor the longer blade on the SRK , and price wise there's no comparison !
