Historically, culturally, traditionally, Asian civilizations have been tolerant of homosexuality. It was prevalent amongst various classes amongst Asian civilizations. China had emperors with homosexual lovers. India had Hindu texts portraying homosexual experience as natural and joyful. The Kama sutra recognized same-sex relations, with some Hindu temples having carvings depicting homosexual acts. It was only frowned upon by these cultures for being a sterile relationship as they were unable to have children, family being all important in Asian civilizations. However, homosexuals got around that by marrying wives for families, yet retaining their homosexual lovers. Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam) had strictures in their holy texts prohibiting homosexuality and pronouncing death sentences on homosexuals. With the growth in power of Christian civilisations, they went on to conquer and colonize Asian lands and imposed their rules, religion and morality on them. Tolerance and acceptance of homosexuality was replaced by prohibitions and penalties against homosexuals in Asia. Ironically, modern Western tolerance and acceptance of homosexuality is so at odds with their previous actions in stamping out homosexuality in their colonised lands. From being depraved, sinful and disgusting, modern Western civilizations have now declared it to be a human right! Yet, it was they who had earlier condemned, and prohibited it! Don’t they ever get tired of always being right?

it's quite unusual for marriage laws to deny the right to marry based on the person's nationality. it is even more unusual to make this distinction only for same-sex couples once this hurdle has been taken. I'm going out on a limp here but when a parliament in a liberal democracy with a constitution guaranteeing basic human rights and liberties passes statute laws like this, its courts and most probably the supreme or constitutional court would see the incompatibilities with fundamental tenets of the constitution and strike down this provision in the marriage law as unconstitutional. 🤞
