This talk between two great directors Mann and Villeneuve is so wonderful. And the way Mann speaks of Villeneuve work is so astonishing. Villeneuve looks really proud. But he is humble enough to share with all the people that worked with him. What a great director. I have great expectations on his next works.

It seems every director is enamoured with Dune, Nolan, James Cameron, Sam Mendes, Guillermo Del Toro, now Michael Mann. It's very rare to see this kind of support nowadays in Hollywood

It's called marketing. All these directors are employees of WB. Oscar buzz!! Has to be created. Marketing 101.

@@aalileghari6195 huhh? They are not, Nolan famously leaved WB for Universal, del Toro's latest movie was with Fox, now he's working with Netflix and so on.

Haven't gotten an epic, a TRUE epic, in a very long time. Big budget spectacle sure, and I don't hate all of them on principle or anything, but Dune has a truly perfect blend of spectacle and intimacy.

I love how nerdy Michael Mann is about the shots, editing, and other small details and he'd be a great Q&A interviewer. I didn't know Denis wants to do Rendezvous With Rama!!! Hope that comes to pass.

I'm enjoying all the love Denis is getting now. He deserves it all. His movies have some much passion and skill infused into them. Can't wait for more! Also, Michael Mann is absolutely amazing as well.

So happy the Herald of the Change got such a shoutout, he felt so regal and his voice was perfect. I also noticed the look he gives Duke Leto, "It's done?", "It's done." Ah chills! Cant wait to see more of the Imperial Court in part 2!

I'll say this--if Mann decides not to direct Heat 2, Villeneuve would be a great fit! Fantastic director, always knocks it outta the park 👍

3:05 My academia-inclined self's ears just perked up, LOL. This is the 1st time I've heard of someone analysing Dune through the more deep dive term "political economy". While of course many people talk about the production of spice and how it literally fuels multiple critical industries and organisations in the Dune universe, going several steps further by looking at the intersection of the political and economic systems has rarely been discussed!

Good questions and remarks from Mann, and as a Mann and Villeneuve fan, one can definitely see some overlap in their skillsets/tastes. HOWEVER - between Mann not having great hearing, Zoom/Skype audio being terrible, and Villeneuve's accent, the communication here left a bit to be desired.

Marvellous. Denis Villeneuve and Michael Mann ... Masters. I have watched "Dune" at least 15 times so far, (4 at the cinema and 11 on DVD) I am thoroughly entranced and enchanted. xxxx
