So sad that he never got to write his memoirs, he was such a great storyteller once he got sober

He was a great storyteller in his stoner years as well. Just ask Jack, who was about the only guy who could keep up with Dennis.

Dennis is one of only 10 actors that never received the recognition he deserved …. I know deep inside , he appreciated John Wayne bringing him out of the Wilderness 😊 ❤

Dennis Hopper, a true raconteur. His reminiscences are colourful and amusing - and interviews with Bob Costas are delightful. Great, thank you for uploading

@@ClevelandLiveMusic you are right - I can’t think of an interviewer who is as adaptable to such very different guest. Handles everything with tact and humour and never tries to push his opinions or preferences.

Wow This was incredible. Such a great show. Didn't watch as often as Letterman because I had to sleep at some point or was otherwise occupied. Late teens early twenties. But every time I watched I remember marveling at how versed Bob was and asked the good questions. So up on every guest. Took it for granted we would always have a show like this.Sigh. But this one is really a classic! Dennis was such a good interview. Riveting Can't wait for Part 2. Want to hear about Easy Rider, Apocalypse Now, Colors, Hoosiers, drugs, the 60s, Blue Velvet, David Lynch, Rivers Edge. I guess there needs to be a Part 3-5 also! Thanks for posting

@@ClevelandLiveMusicWell, I am very grateful for whatever you post😊I subscribed after seeing this one as I'm sure we have similar tastes. There are 2 clips I looked at on KZitem right after this that seemed to be from the same hour. One he talks about Blue Velvet and the other Brando/ Apocalypse Now. D. H. seems to be wearing the same tie and Bob is interviewing so I think it's like maybe 9 minutes of Part 2 in total

Seeing Hopper in ‘90 reminds me I was born in the wrong era. Take me back to when there was still enough freedom to speak your mind and actually feel alive. The era we are in now is monotonic and numb. Everyone has to think the same, act the same and look the same. Boring
@hurrytoworry

I agree 100%. We will never have people like this again as they are products of their environment, which no longer exists. Seeing legends, free people like Hopper pass away, people of his era slowly dissapear knowing there is no one to really replace them is heartbreaking. I wish I got to experience it.

Yes, today, everything is so sanitized. You couldn't have people as real as Jack, Dennis, Marlon, James Dean, etc. The almost crucified poor Johnny Depp, so I can only imagine what they'd have done with those guys.

@mikejohnson2638 What an ego you have. James Dean was an amazing actor and if you ask any actor they will say the same thing. You're not an actor and you're blind with jealous rage likely because you have no talent.
