Unfortunately we are of an age when a lot of our music favourites are starting to pass on. But they have left their music which not just our generation will always listen to, but also future generations will delight in. Denny Laine was a genius RIP

I met Denny Laine at BeatlesFest in Chicago a few years ago. He was a special guest there that weekend and even got up and performed the Wings' classic "Mull of Kintyre" he wrote w/Paul. He was very modest yet personable when I bumped into him at the fest. I thanked him for his music & long contribution to rock music & Wings. On stage he also sang his early Moody Blues hit "Go Now". Remember, the Moody Blues were the first nand he was a member of at the dawn of the British Invasion. Great guy! R.I.P. Denny Laine, you were a great talent, and will be sorely missed!

Ahh Denny where do I start. The first time I heard Go Now I thought it was one of the greatest songs and vocals I'd heard. Then fast forward to your Wings years again with you giving fantastic musical, songwriting and vocal support throughout. I saw you live with Wings at Hammersmith after Venus and Mars came out and again had the privilege to hear you perform a faultless version of Go Now. I'd read you were not well about a month ago and was wishing and hoping you'd make a full recovery. Sadly not to be but you will be terribly missed. RIP Denny.

Back in the 70s I had hear a story that while the Beatles were making 'Help', Paul had a radio going and 'Go Now' came on. Paul came running up to the others proclaiming that they should listen to this song because, 'Here's a song as good as us'. True or not? (shrugs) But then Paul starts working with this very singer about 8-9 years later.

Sorry the hear this. I saw him playing in a pub in Preston in what must be the very early 90's. I actually stood on his foot as I walked out of the toilet because the place was rammed. He smiled at me and said "ouch". I apologised, hardly recognised him until he got on stage and he gave me another smile. Lovely bloke and massive talent.

I knew him briefly in the mid 90s as he was ‘visiting’ with a neighbor in the eccentric Wiltshire village of Horningsham, where I lived at the time. I never saw him play although of course I heard him playing on many records. I remember him being a remarkably self effacing, down to earth guy, and generous of spirit. The only clue as to his profession/vocation was a rather large, exotic classic American car that barely fit in my neighbor’s garage. I’m afraid I can’t tell you exactly what model but it was a convertible and had the kind of chrome and trim that belonged in 1950s California. He clearly loved the thing! RIP.

Very Sad News. I would like to add a great song to your list. Denny did have a song-writing career after the Moodies and before Paul! Thanks Denny for the brilliant Beatlesque "Say You Don't Mind" (1967). This is when Denny formed The Electric String Band, (a proto ELO). Colin Blunstone recorded an excellent version in '72 (I still play the vinyl), but Denny's promo in a sheep fold with Sgt Pepper clothing and John Lennon specs is a wonder to behold!. Oh, and Denny's "Say You Don't Mind" strings were arranged by John Paul Jones.

John - Nice video in honor of Denny. Loved the list of your favorite Denny songs (at 3:22). You didn't mention that he co-wrote "Mull of Kintyre" with Paul - which is obviously the biggest hit of his career. I also love "Don't Let It Bring You Down" co-written with Paul. And you mentioned that he sang "Richard Cory" on the "Wings Over America" album - but did not mention "Go Now" which was a #1 hit for Denny in the UK back in the mid 60s. Great to hear your recollections of the times you shared with him.
