On this flight I depart the Will Rogers/Wiley Post Fly-In at Dog Iron Ranch. On the way back home I planned to stop at William R Pogue Municipal Airport (KOWP) for fuel. About five miles away from the airport I noticed the oil pressure had dropped below normal operating pressure. As I reduced throttle in the pattern to land I noticed the oil pressure had dropped to nearly 0psi.
After topping off with fuel I started the engine (still extremely low oil pressure) and taxied over to a nearby open hangar to see if they had some tools I could borrow. Luckily Nate was in the hangar doing some work on another plane and was nice enough to let me borrow a few tools to troubleshoot the issue. After a few minutes it was apparent what the issue was and Nate, with the help of Bill (owner of Skyboss Aviation), was able to help me track down the parts I needed.
Thanks to the help and generosity of Nate and Bill I was able to get back in the air within an hour instead of possibly days waiting on parts to be mailed. If you're ever in the Tulsa area and need any maintenance done check out Bill and Nate. Information below:
