I don't care what anyone says but being more of a fan of darker music I love these light pop ditties that get curveballed into my mental playlist. I love this, I Sometimes Wish I Was Dead, Just Can't Get Enough, See You, and A Photograph Of You. Essential in my book.

Yes, the light-heartedness is there. Vince Clarke formed the band and wrote and recorded all of the songs for Speak and Spell. Later, in an interview with Erasure, the host asked Vince what was the difference between Erasure and Depeche Mode. Vince replied "Well, I think we went pop and Depeche Mode went "rock and roll." Ha!

Hell yeah based take. You don't gotta be dark and dyed in the wool at the time really you are never obligated to do anything so fuck the opposition. I do feel guilty about loving But Not Tonight as well though because from what I heard the band was not happy with it and was forced into including it as a b side or what not. But it's so cute I don't know I can't help but like it.

it's off Speak and Spell Depeche's 1st album. the band doesn't like that it's something they made. Speak And Spell was written by Vincent Clark currently of Erasure. you can see him in the video for Just Can't Get Enough. (though a friend from my college days used to think it was a song about ED and Just Can't Get It Up. but those were the days. )☮️🎶🖖

A typical Vince ditty that had potential - Compare this to "Bad Connection" from Yazoo and you will hear alot of similarities and it even goes further to DAF who also collaborated with Mute`s Daniel Miller with their first album however released "Love At First Sight" (Liebe auf dem ersten Blick) on their second album which also sounds similar to this.

They used to laugh at the lyrics when Vince was not with them. As It seems one day he realized it as he could heard them when he was into the toilet. This was one of the reasons why he wanted to leave the band for seeking another pretty boy. Im pretty sure that Leave in silence was written about Vince

If you admit you like this song to the average Depeche Mode fan, they'll be so butthurt, they'll immediately seek out a knife to cut themselves in order to feel better, because they're such emo goths. Depeche Mode were only good when Vince Clarke wrote the songs.
