Completely true and it is a vicious cycle cos the more the stuff builds up the more depressed you get, which then means you do less, so the more stuff builds up 😞 and in the UK there is so little help for people when things do get out of control, unless you can afford to pay for it to be done, which isn't cheap 😞

@@BLUEMONDAY99 exactly, I've been trying to get help for over 8 years and just keep getting passed from one place to the next, I'm one of the lucky ones as a good friend of mine worked for the mental health team (she helped put together alot of their assessment literature) and she helps me when she can and when I'm struggling. What these peeps did is amazing and it's great to see the smiles on Norman's face 💖

Yes, don't I know it. Seven years ago my buddy died unexpectedly from an undiagnosed thoracic aortal aneurism. Then my elder brother died, the hospital wouldn't tell me the cause. I slipped into depression, not helped by bleeding ulcers on my legs, I found maggots on one leg when I went to change dressings. They didn't bother me much but the shear number that came boiling up out of the dressing.. The neighbour didn't care for his garden and I had overgrown Forsythia, Hypericum and brambles at the front with Variegated Ivy, Honeysuckle, brambles and raspberries invading and rooting in the back garden. Couple that with rampant blackberries, brambles, a knotweed, grasses and other weeds on the other side. My garden was unpenetrateable for most of it. I paid a guy to clear most of it last year but didn't keep it up. Then a new neighbour moved in and he worked like a Trojen to clear it again. He shamed me into getting off my arse and doing stuff. Trouble is, depression comes back and I feel like sitting down and bawling my eyes out. Sounds pathetic, right? I refuse to take pills so I "tough it out", and stay away from people, why should I drag them down, until it passes. Having someone like the Flawless teamwould, I think, have been a real game changer.

This is so much bigger than a clean-up. It's life-changing. Well done, Ben and Paul and your other helpers... amazing job, because I'm sure it felt overwhelming at times... so much stuff. The gates are beautiful, a work of art by a craftsman long ago. I hope someone buys them from the scrap metal yard and repurposes them in their garden. They are too beautiful to be melted down. @@-Stella-Maris- Isn’t it crazy how the price of everything keeps increasing? Every time we shop for food the prices have gone up since the last shopping trip! And you get less product for more money!? For example, the bagels I like used to come with six in the bag. Now I get five with no explanation. ~ My second comment was meant to stand alone but I got confused and added it to your original comment. I’m sorry. But it’s lovely to talk to you here. We think alike about the old gates and iron fencing. My Dad never threw anything away. When I was six and wanted my own bicycle my Dad made me one from old bikes he had in his garage. He used to fix all of his cars and trucks; he had many different ones over the years. Things were just built better in the old days. Our original refrigerator was a Kelvinator. My Mom used to defrost it once a month, down on her knees wiping up the water that melted from the ice that built up in the freezer compartment. After about 15 years we got a new, frost-free fridge. Instead of just trashing the old one which still worked perfectly well my parents gave it away, free, to a woman my oldest sister worked with. She’d been using a camping cooler with ice blocks to keep her perishables cold. She was thrilled and Mom and Dad were happy to see the old fridge going out the door. Have a wonderful weekend.

It's wonderful what a few determined good people can achieve in a relatively short time. Even more wonderful how much that means to someone who has been overwhelmed by looking at it all and not knowing where to start, or how or when they'll ever manage to get through it. This is truly a blessing for a very appreciative man, I'm so pleased for him.
