Depression is a common psychiatric disorder, with an estimated lifetime prevalence of 10% in the general population. According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5), the diagnosis of a Major Depression requires five or more symptoms to be present within a 2-week period.
