Gavin’s enthusiasm is captivating. As a photographer for decades, he can have a tutorial video on the most basic concept and I will always watch in its entirety. Keep ‘em coming

sir I am asking that in cameras we have rolling shutter as frame does not captured at same time but different moment of time and speed at which frame become in rolling shutter is called read out speed which is normally 20ms . so I am asking if we have shutter speed 1/16sec or 60ms .then frame has information bw 0 to 20ms or 0 to 60ms

Thank you for your great tutorials Gavin. I have a question: In a setup just like yours, where you control the flash from a remote trigger mounted on the hot shoe of your camera, do you need to do anything on the flash setting of your camera? (ie. Other than simply setting the appropriate flash synch speed, aperture and ISO). I am configuring a new camera and I don't know if quick access to the flash settings is actually needed for a setup like yours. Thank you!
@GavinHoey
5 ай бұрын
Good question. Usually there's no need to do anything to your camera, just set the exposure and away you go but there are a few things to keep in mind... Mirrorless cameras will most likely have a near black viewfinder with studio flash settings, so you MIGHT need to turn on live view boost (name varies with brands). Most cameras will need to be in mechanical shutter (no click, no flash) but not all. If nothing flashes at all just double check the cameras flash setting isn't "off" ;) Lastly the most common camera issue that stops the flash not firing is not pushing the transmitter on to the hotshoe fully!
@photonsonpixels
5 ай бұрын
@@GavinHoey So Gavin, the flash setting in the camera body must be "on"? Or this is just a trouble shooting thing that may or may not work for some cameras? Thank you so much for the tips!
@GavinHoey
5 ай бұрын
@@photonsonpixelsFlash setting on your camera should be "on" by default, so more of a trouble shooting thing based on my years of trying to give 1st time flash users a go at workshops / trade shows. You'd be amazed at how many times I seen that mistake happen!

Is it possible to replicate this result with 2 folding background (like the Manfrotto one you used before)?

In theory yes, no problem. However watch out for the edges on pop-up backgrounds as they're often edged with a black fabric border.

@GavinHoey

It's a VERY old Lastolite background that I was given by a retiring photographer when I was just starting out. Fun fact, when I got it the colour and pattern were horribly out of fashion (everything was pure white backgrounds) so it sat gathering dust for years until fashions changed 😁
