What a job this must have ben before the excavator was invented. I can see 4 side booms and 2 cranes at least along with a backhoe or two so ten machines as opposed to six now. What a job to see such a massive weight moved seemingly effortlessly , so cool.

To help with these derailments, it's just my opinion, but it seems feesable and safer I would think, between the rail head, and the foot of the rails where they are nailed down, so the web between those two, needs to be made thicker to help support those heavy trains, if you get anywhere from 2, 3, or up to five locomotives coupled back to back ,that an aweful lot of weight going over that skinny web in the middle. Even thicker web in center and as long as they are making the rails today, the sections I mean. They would still bend around curves. And hold the weight much much better. But when you have that kinda tonage rolling on the track, something is going to flex, I suspect the webing. Just my opinion, but it does make sence. I believe that would eliminate the track from flexing even more. Again, it's just an option.
