I was born in Derby, my parents immigrated to NZ when I was 5 years old then to Australia so I grew up in NZ and Australia. Miss Derby though. Feels like home for sone reason.

The Derbion shopping centre and it's car parks would be very attractive buildings. If they were Soviet military installations form the cold war era. And it's not as if there's any shops in it to justify the horror of the architecture. Mind you, there's only a handful of shops left in the whole city centre now.

What the hell have they done to the city? It's as if the soul of the city was sucked out, and these dreadful buildings put in place to torment the poor citizens. Derby was a very busy town when I lived there almost sixty years ago. Not so today.

I live here, my boyfriends coming over from spain, I got worried about how busy london is and didn't choose to stay there with him instead, so now hes being dragged to derby, I hope the local crackheads at the spot don't scare him too much.

Does your boyfriend need a visa to stay in the UK? I was born in Derby so I'm a UK citizen. However I grew up in NZ and Australia and currently live in Australia since my parents emigrated from the UK in the early 1970's. I'm now in my 50's and married, just wondering if I was to return to the UK to live would my wife need to apply to emigrate to the UK or for some kind of visa to be able to live in the UK. As she is not a UK citizen.

Firstly Derby is not in Derbyshire it has unitary authority. Matlock is the county town.

@@mikesturgess2676 no its not! Derby has unitary authority which means it is not controlled by the County and that is why Matlock is the County Town of Derbyshire

@@ianpage2765 nobody is disputing that but it is still located within Derbyshire so your statement Derby is not in Derbyshire is factually incorrect. I should know my own address.

@@ianpage2765 You'll find that regardless of its unitary authority it remains part of the ceremonial county - maybe do your research next time.
