I haven't been in that building for years! The inside looks nicer than I imagined. Nice find. My thanks also to the guy with the keys for showing you around. :)

Anything hiding in the back of that Citroen Utility truck? Maybe it's where the security guard takes his nap? ;)

If you look to your left at 1:10, there is a "Flohr Otis" logo. Interesting, that they are in the UK. Also welcome back!!! Is this Joesliftchannel? I heard that intro somewhere. Lol! :D

Time to convert the lift to PLC logic.

Actually there might be a simpler explanation - There use to be a sports direct on level 1, and the M&s buttons weren’t working but it was just serving the Sports Direct location. So when that close, the lift wasn’t required.

I remember this lift from my holidays over the years, how long has it derelict for? I’m sure the half door buttons used to be labelled Marks and Spencer, which used to be next to this lift, I wonder if you used to be able to access M&S from the rear door passages years ago.

Lee Thomas I think it has been for a year or two. They were in the process of getting parts for it as it wasn't leveling correctly so I'd imagine it hasn't been a huge time. When did you last see it working? Did it have a cool motor sound and was it two stage leveling like some of the old relay lifts?

what are three ground floors used for? what are the tubes inside the relay cabinet?
@harrisonhealey1679

Sam Sitar those tubes are fuses. There's technically 2 main floors and two half levels where the rear doors go into Sports Direct and the other side gain access to the service passages

Shame. Was it abandoned due to lack of parts, or did it just break down?
@harrisonhealey1679

Michal M It was left like this because it wouldn't stop at the floors correctly and it seems they are awaiting parts for it before they can put it in service. A shop owns this lift and apparently there's plans to modify the shopping centre and install a new lift to go up to a bar on the roof area

@@harrisonhealey1679 I see. What a shame, I know of a similar old Otis lift requiring the same attention, only I'm not sure what part needs replacing. It's a set of 2, one is still going, and they intend to keep it going until it breaks down, the other one requires a part which cannot be bought any more. It will be a shame to see this one go as it looks in very good condition.
