Thank you so much! I was in this serious "cognitive dissonance" for the past week since the formula from my prof. is different from the many versions I found online. Your video is definitely SAVIOR!!! I really enjoy every second of it!

Thank you very much for your video. I mean that. It helped me a lot to understand all those formulas available, but it's hard to find someone who can explain where they come from. Keep doing this amazing job.

Thank you so much for this explanation! I really appreciate it! I'm just a little confused though, at 8:53, how the version we derived is the same as the second formula. I'm trying to figure out why the two denominators are the same but I don't really understand.

If you multiply two square roots, you can change this to the square root of the two terms multiplied i.e., √a √b=√(a.b). I didn't actually do this in the video. I just stated it. This gives us the same denominators.

I'm afraid I have no idea what will come up on the Leaving Cert. papers. By the way this video contains formula and a derivative that are not required for the Leaving Cert. See www.molloymaths.com

this is really good but ..i am a little confused , what the relation between the last formula and the formula we derive from Least square .. (Regression) --> a = [ n sum(x.y) - sum (x) . sum (y) ] / [ n sum ( x^2) - ( sum (x) )^2 ] ?????
@molloymaths1092
3 жыл бұрын
The least square regression determines the slope of the line of best fit and can have any value depending on the steepness of the line. The correlation coefficient determines how well the points fit a straight line and can only have values from -1 to +1. Not sure if this answers your question?
