I'm so happy to see this! As I've gotten older my body skin is incredibly dry and I've been worried about showering too often but now I know. One obstacle for me is getting cold too quickly out of the shower and not wanting to moisturize because I'll get colder! I'm going to figure out how to moisturize when I'm still in the shower or maybe someone will invent a lotion heater so we can stay toasty warm;). Thank you for such helpful videos!

Just keep your lotion near (or in a far end of) the shower. It should basically be room temperature. I only half towel off and moisturize while in the shower

Hi, I would love to know your thoughts on body butters? I have been following your skincare advice and use a dove sensitive soap bar for washing, as well as a non scented simple deodorant. It’s great. I have used cetaphil and cerave body moisturisers in the past and whilst they work great, I can’t help but love the smell and feel of palmers cocoa butter infused lotions since everything else is relatively simple and non scented in my body care routine. Also I’m not sure if it’s just me, but it seems to make my skin tone appear more even and glowy? So it would be good to know your thoughts and if you have any recommendations. Thank you for everything that you do! ❤

Great video idea! I’ve been an avid watcher of your videos recently and enjoy knowing information about the body care products and how to use them! Hearing about products in cold climates is very helpful and I think I would also like to hear about what products to use in warmer climates as well. Are there ingredients that favor skin in warmer climates? What products are less necessary and more necessary for people in warm climate areas? I live in Florida and am curious on your thoughts. Thank you again!

Are there any benefits to them that standard after the shower lotions don't? Or are they more like conditioners where you can use them in the shower but you'll still need to moisturize afterwards?

I'm guessing it's becuase the facial skin is more sensitive because it's thinner and also (presumably) not covered with clothes. Hence it's exposed to more pollutants and it's more severely effected by oils and dirt than our body. Similar to how if you're treating body hyperpigmentation you can use exfoliants and retinols on the thicker skin of the body more often than you would the thinner, more easily damaged facial skin barrier.

Hey Dr.Jenny 🤗 when I was on accutane, I was very dry but I liked it, my oily skin wasn't oily anymore. However when I stopped accutane I stated adapalene, and now I get oily super easily, the sebum isn't thick but how do I say it? its very watery meaning that it doesn't stay in the pores and easily comes out to the surface. How do I stop the oiliness?

(i have dermatitis seborrheic on my face and my body sweat a lot) what bodywash/bar soap do you recommend that is fungal acne safe? products that you are mentionning (except laroche posay) are very hard to find where i live (i live in france) i'm so sorry of asking a lot of questions like that haha thank you again !!!

What about just applying almond-or coconut oil over the whole body. I like to do that even on my face and hair. Dunno if it´s a good or a bad thing tho haha. I like it simple, not having multiple products
@nyw14
Жыл бұрын
i think there should be a disclaimer when stating that using water alone is enough to cleanse the skin because that definitely applies to those who use very minimal products on their skin like just lotions or nothing at all as you state in this video. me being a black person cannot just use lotion on my skin regardless of how heavy they claim it to be or what ingredients is in it because my skin will soak it in and by the end of the day i will be ashy and itchy. i have taken the same approach to my body as i have to my face. i use multiple products to achieve maximum moisture and because of this i have to not only use body wash but also double cleanse using oil cleansers as well because product build up is oh so real and will not come off with water alone
@sdarling6518

Most dermatologists will tell you that soap is overused and is really only necessary for our really sweaty parts. Also, I am a Black person with dry skin. I use rich creams on my face and rich lotions on my body with zero issues. You may have an issue that goes beyond basic dry skin. It sounds like you'd benefit from seeing a dermatologist and sharing your concerns with them. Good luck!

@@sdarling6518 it sounds like a damaged skin barrier. Try using gentle soap for sensitive skin and creams with ceramides to repair the damage. If CeraVe fails you, you def should see a dermatologist. Also, another black person

For KP on the legs - Is it ok or more effective to use a glycolic acid like the one from the ordinary then a regular moisturizer over it? Thanks! ❤
@ajak8506
Жыл бұрын
I've noticed a difference when I use the ordinary's 7% Glycolic Acid on my legs after I get out of the shower. I apply it to damp skin, let it sit a little bit, enough to absorb in and then I top it off with my usual moisturizer. I do this maybe once a week and I have noticed that my skin is more hydrated, smooth and more acne/chickenskin free. Hope that this helps you a bit. I am very white though and I've heard that Glycolic Acid can react differently to darker skin.
@sdarling6518
Жыл бұрын
It seems like a cleanser and/or lotion specifically designed for KP would be the best route. I used the glycolic toner from The Ordinary on my body at night and then put on lotion like normal. However, I think it'd be easier and cheaper for me to just use one product that moisturizes and exfoliates at the same time. I used Amlatin lotion but it was so itchy that I couldn't stand it. So now I'm going to buy Cerave SA products or Drunk Elephant glycolic lotion.

I think using once in a while is fine but regular use can be irritating on the skin especially if you have eczema. Also higher risk of hot tub folliculitis if it’s not sanitized well make sure to rinse off in the shower afterwards and apply moisturizer immediately

Dove is very irritating to my skin because it’s not real soap. Soap by nature is the saponification of fat (oil, typically used to be lard or tallow) and lye. This is true soap, not synthetic anything or surfactants. In fact products that contain synthetic surfactants can be considered detergents not true soaps. I would not suggest the cleansers in this video for eczema prone skin types.
