I knew this vid was coming but watching now just helps me get those memories. As a Chicago kid watching Derrick's story was crazy. The man took over the league in his first 3 years. Beating teams like the Lakers, Thunder, Heat, Magic all without a consistent roster around him was incredible. Taking the Celtics to 7 as a Rookie. Beating the Lakers on Christmas with that crazy floater. Ending Dragic in Phoenix. The things Drose was doing then were something you normally don't see from a player till they hit their prime. Watching Derrick Rose battle guys in this era (Harden, Curry, Lillard, Russ) was taken from us. Would he have brought us a chip? Probably. Was Thibs an idiot for keeping him in the game? Yes. But we can't change that now just gotta wait for someone to build a time machine so we can go back to 2012 smack Thibs and yank Derrick off the court.

Last year I was shooting a ball around at my elementary school playground when a group of 9-10 year-olds came over waiting on their rides. I decided I'd entertain them a bit, so I gave them my ball for a few minutes. They started trying to emulate Curry and Harden and a lot of current players, then they asked me who my favorite player was. Assuming they'd be clueless, I said Derrick Rose was my favorite to watch and imitate growing up. To my surprise, these kids knew exactly who I was talking about and seemed really excited to talk about him. Rose's legend isn't lost yet
