I love this. I looks more of a smart casual jacket than a casual cardigan. It would be great for work.

Well of course, like in any tutorial that I do...thinking of it now, it is such a self-explanatory thing for me, but maybe not for some... I usually add a reminder in every drafting/sewing video, but this time I forgot.

Samantha, great to have you and happy to hear that your work is going back to what it was. This definitely would be nice for work! There is a Members Extra episode on the this cardigan (the first version) where I give extra advice and materials on how else to make this cardigan - take a look :)

I like pockets on a jacket as they add some weight to the garment giving it a better "finish"

Alissa, I am planning on sewing my granddaughters sweaters, and probably reglan style, I'd like to make them fleece sweaters but they live far away, my daughter in law will be measuring them but the generic measuring sheets I find do not have the measurements you use (like how long it is from arm to arm with arms opened). will you make a measuring document with all the measuring usually used by your ideas? thank you so much for these classes they help me a lot!

Muriel, hi! That is so awesome that you will be making some gifts for your granddaughters. Please go to google drive - there are Instruction Sheets for Members only with measurements needed for every project, as well as if you take a look at the bodice block instruction sheets - you will see measurement chart + illustrations. You can send these PDF files to your daughter-in-law or take a screenshot and send it to her. Blank measurement sheet is on my to do list :) (can't confirm when)

This looks amazing, definitely going to do this one with pockets. Do you reckon it will work with sweater fabric too? Thank you
@ThoughtfulCreativity
2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, just don't take sweater knit that is too flimsy/lightweight, take something that has stability to it - ponte Roma, Liverpool knit, double brushes knit, sweater knit and similar.

Seriously watching your video till i heard that ‘sh sh sh’ sound you made for sewing the band. Just so cute! 😜 I may have missed, how many yards of fabric did you use for this cardigan, just to give me an idea.
@ThoughtfulCreativity
2 жыл бұрын
He he, sound effects ;) so for the original one (video link in the infobox) I used the entire yard, for this one you will need a bit more due to the pockets and if you have directional print, one way stretch and other things that will influence the amount needed

Please go to my channel and go through the videos - all technology is shown there. I can't show this in EVERY single video, because every video already takes 30 hrs to make and I can't invest more. So please be kind, make your way to my channel page - LOTS of information there for all levels of understanding - how to hem, how to finish a seam, how to sew a sleeve, how to sew with knits, how to sew different neckline - ALL you have to do is look for it. Or you can also take a sewing class, go to the library and get some sewing books, practice on scrap fabric, look through your wardrobe and investigate how that clothing was made and what can you learn from it?
