When comapny split 7:1 and the price is for example 140$ before spliting, after it is 20$, but for stock owner before with preffered shares it means that if they had 100 shares for 140$, then after split they have 700 shares for 20 or 700 shares for 140$ ? Or you are counting increase of value after the split? 100 shares for 140$ -> 700 shares for 20$ = 14 000$ After years new splited share is worth 50$ -> therfore 700x50 = 35 000$ ?

@@BaNuj Yeah you it right in the first part. 1 share for 140 becomes 7 for 20$ initially of course, then the market decides whatever it will. Anyways, all you have to know is her 15,000 shares would have become x7, then x4, which would be 420,000 shares, and in the rare likelyhood that she never sold them, those shares are worth 120ish dollars today each.

The trans woman that this character was based off gave up 15,000 Apple shares by leaving Apple to join Theranos because she thought she’d be doing a better thing for the world by helping a medical company. But she quickly realized how Elizabeth was an evil, corrupt, liar and did not stay for long.

What the designer gave up when she forfeited 15,000 shares of apple back then to work with Holmes, would be worth 47$ million dollars today, considering the 7 to 1 split, and the 4 to 1 split that came after. That's 28 shares new shares for the 2007 share. So 28 times 15,000 then times 100-130 dollars that apple stock is now.

She had a ton of investors and she could have simply decided to diversify and let pros take over and foisted the whole problem onto other people. I agree the product never worked but she did succeed in getting a ton of investors. I also agree that nobody should have invested in her, and her investors were fools, but still, the money was on the table, and she could have taken a tiny sliver of it, walked away, and lived a life of luxury and ease. It's called "other peoples money" for a reason.

A significant number of those veteran politicians and generals and CEOs continued to back her as long as they did because not doing so would be admitted they'd been wrong. as someone with a pre-seed stage biotech startup I can GUARANTEE most VCs (i would say around 95%) have absolutely no idea about the technicalities of medicine and biotechnology. There was one scene in this show (I forget who says it) where Elizabeth is told that science is time intensive. And they were right. VCs want you to get shit done within a deadline and they're not wrong in their own place which is why half the lies she said were to come across as authentic. They do get sold on the idea of high end schools. But one VC explicitly tells her she's doing chemical engineering at a high school degree

It would give wrong results. The machine showed positive for cancer, kidney failure, melanoma, etc. It also showed negative for medical problems patients DID have. It's just not enough blood to test with.
