But I have found for the first time since I started gaming in the 1980's, that I have a system that is plenty fast for current and all past games. Heck, I still run Windows 10 on my primary machine and linux on my laptop with windows 11 as a virtual machine. Usually when I get an upgrade, its already bottlenecked from day 1. Sure, if I want to get 200 fps, this isn't the right combo and yes, I could get higher frame rates for my hp reverb G2, but its good enough. Heck, I started using my hp reverb on a nvidia 1060, so I have come a long way. I had hoped better for the new ryzen chips, especially with intels expected gains in the coming gen. the better efficiency of 9000 is great, but might not be enough if intel actually makes it's next gen such a big improvement as it has been reffered to being. as for the ryzen AI, those aren't really something bad, and actually the NPU improvement is great, quite much as I had hoped, while I had hoped they tried to beat Intel by a larger margin in NPU TOPS 50TOPS still is great and actually the 2 times efficiency is very good to hear and might in many cases be even more usefull since 50TOPS should be enough to generate images in Stabediffusion in around 2 seconds when properly optimized, meaning that in most other AI tasks it should work very well as well. the main problem is that they only show 2 ryzen 9 cpu's. which suggests they might be very expensive at which point many of the improvements might be much less impressive or interesting. also I hope there will be chips aimed at normal users as well, and hope they will also have a similar NPU capability. next to that they brand the chips with AI, but do not reffer to the total package TOPS, which might be them not thinking about it, but which might also mean that the rest of the APU actually isn't to impressive. since we don't have specs on how well the IGPU would be, cpu will probably be okay, but if their IGPU was actually quite impressive it would be likely they would also state the TOPS numbers(well unless this is just a early leak and not the real release). since intel did name their total package tops being over 100, so while amd has 5 tops more from the NPU, they wouldn't just like the idea of intel marketing their chip at over 100TOPS Ai performance by using full package power, while they would market at only 50 TOPS by only using only the NPU power as refference. so AMD chosing not to mention total package TOPS might suggest it actually isn't to good. this is made more so by them comparing it to previous generation intel and apple while their next gen will also launch soon. luckily ryzen should launch a bit more early so might show just how good it actually is in case they just forgot to add any info about how good their gpu and such are.

To me, this implies that they're happier with the yield on 4nm than they were on 5nm in the 7000 series. I think 7000's were over-juiced to be able to ship borderline silicon as functional product. I would hope this also means they've backed away from that "95C=normal" notion.

Hot take: AMD isn't really supporting AM4. Its just slightly different bins of existing CPUs. If they released Zen 3+ 6000 series as a last hurrah maybe, but come on... They can just adjust the prices on existing SKUs to give the exact same value. They literally wouldn't have any issues because they can market the the Zen 3+ stuff as a way to help give budget gamers and people who wanna sell their AM4 boards to upgrade to AM5 a bit of relief. Zen 3+ wouldn't really eat into the Zen 5 market since the performance gap wouldn't really justify picking the lower older architecture anyways for people who are making new computers or upgrading from Zen 3 anyways.

Leaks are all fake, there is no such thing as a leak really, that is something that would be actually very bad for the person doing the leak because it's illegal. But that being said, leaks are still information of some sort that it's interesting to see. These channels cover leaks in an informative and interesting way. Now, there are some channels who treat leaks as more than entertainment and possible information, who claim that their leaks are super real and attacked other channels for being "fake leakers", like it happened to Redgamingtech when he was called "fake leaker" by a very well known leak channel. There is nothing wrong with leaks, we all know they are mostly fake, but it is still interesting and even useful to see, because many are probably what the company is trying to release or planning.

The thing about leakers, some businesses leak details on purpose. Nvidia is an obvious example of deliberate leaks. The beauty of leaks is they are free advertisement and the hype train. Also, they allow public feedback. If people start being negative towards the leaks, the company knows they need to do something to bring up hopes, or they are dropping expectations to make the release product better. Leaks are a marketing tactic. About AM6, I don't expect that until the desktop market is ready for DDR6 RAM. DDR5 isn't exactly saturated in games. PCIe 5.0 is yet to be utilized except by storage devices that need sizeable heat sinks. The only place for PCIe 6 is connecting to the motherboard. And given backwards/forwards compatibility of PCIe, integrating PCIe 6 may not need a socket update, but DDR6 will.

Kind of think that AMD should have changed their processor to Ryzen AI 500,instead of 300, the 5 representing the Zen architecture, they would still get to one up Intel, and it doesn't seem so spontaneous/spiteful in naming convention...

As much as I hate hearing or listening to the attached "AI" naming of current or future tech, they just can't help it. I live in the 3rd world and have friends working on sales and they say that it's a goodsent for the AI branding because it makes everything easy to market. As much as some buyers are enthusiast level they buy only so often, but the majority of their sales are on the middle and lower who are not techies, the AI branding gives the product an extra kick over their competitors.

5:01 for clarification AMD compared it to the M3 chip because that is what is present in the current thin and light laptop from apple which is the macbook air. The new M4 chip is present in the iPads and not the macbook.

Intel doesn´t seem to be in trouble!! Intel is in trouble. Even if intel makes a cpu 2% or 3% more powerfull that the ryzen 9000, that doesn´t draw more power or as the added bonus of heating your home during the winter. It will still get decimated with the ryzen 9000 3d variant.
